In A. O. Scott's glowing review of Shattered Glass, he writes: "[E]ven if the memory of the [Jayson] Blair scandal were not painfully fresh, the earlier debacle would still exert a morbid fascination among journalists of a certain age and temperament, the kind of people who spend way too much time surfing media-gossip blogs and Web sites and who are generally obsessed with tracking the behavior of the fish in the neighboring bowls."

Those are so totally fighting words. I hereby challenge Mr. Scott to an evening of fisticuffs. After all, I must defend the honor of media-gossip blogs in particular and the absolute importance of narcissist celebrity magazine culture in general. Besides, you know I can totally take him. So anytime you're ready to crawl out of your own media fishbowl and into mine, Mr. Scott, let me know. Otherwise, expect me when you least expect me: I'll fabulate you up like a Stephen Glass feature.
