Jewsploitation: Crossing the Line
Salon meets up with director Jonathan Kesselman and discusses his new Jewsploitation film Hebrew Hammer. Evidently, the Hot New Jewish Irony has gone too far. According to Baz Dreisinger, the film is derivative and near pointless: Kesselman is "comfortable marketing Jewish insider jokes to everyone" because he knows nothing about being Jewish. For the kids today, harshes Baz, cultural identity is just another "trendy accessory that can be taken on and off at will." Shocking news: insert obligatory Williamsburg reference here.
