'Bad Girl' Writer: All Publicity Is Bad Publicity
Today's Page Six recounts a bizarre tale. The facts: Abigail Vona, 19, is publishing a book called 'Bad Girl.' Her agent was her 48-year-old boyfriend Douglas Dechert. (Eww?) She dumped him. He threw her clothes out the window. Now she claims that Dechert, in retaliation, wrote an email from her email to her publisher: this email accuses the publisher of wildly mishandling the book's publishing.
Dechert claims she asked him to send the email — and he wants his commission.
The book was published by RuggedLand, brought to its attention through Dechert by a "famous writer," says Page Six. Unrelatedly, we're sure, Google tells us that RuggedLand's Jeanine Pepler lives with novelist Jay McInerney. (Are plans for their wedding this upcoming weekend still on, after recent relationship troubles?)
We've gotten a copy of the email, and boy howdy, the mere thought of printing it makes lawyers all over town prep their billable hour logs. Best publicity stunt ever, you guys.
