A genealogy-obsessed reader writes:

Enquiring mind wants to know: if Anne Hearst is the daughter of William Randolph Hearst, how is it possible that her daughter Amanda also has the last name Hearst? Isn't there a father — a non-Hearst, I presume [Ed. Note: we hope] — in the equation? Or is this the case of let's take the more famous last name since it's better than having to pay for expensive clothes?

Hmm. We're gonna go with: adopted?

Fun Hearst facts: Anne and her four sisters each live in different states. What's up with that? More fun Hearst facts: Overall, the five sons of William Randolph Hearst have spawned, as Business Week once put it, 61 direct descendants.
