Maybe we weren't kidding about Paramount head Sherry Lansing buying the rights to the stories of the two lot security guards who helped police capture a Hollywood killer. This email (sent to us by a spy) from Lansing and outgoing, beloved Viacom chairman Jonathan Dolgen reveals that the grateful studio will to fete its heroes early next week.

A message from Jon and Sherry

Please join us in honoring Paramount's Security Department's heroes, particularly Sergeant Craig Phillips and Officer Isaac Macias, at Paramount Plaza (in front of the Studio Store) on Monday, June 21, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. Phillips and Macias played a key role in helping the LAPD apprehend a double-homicide suspect outside the studio's main gate earlier this week.

Chief of Police William Bratton and Councilmember Tom LaBonge will participate in this ceremony to applaud their remarkable efforts.

Jonathan Dolgen and Sherry Lansing

What better place to announce a movie deal than at a "ceremony to applaud their remarkable efforts"? Perhaps they'll stage a reenactment (complete with some stunt-casting and eye-popping special effects) to generate a little heat for the surefire project. Don't put anything past a woman trying to hang on to her studio. Also, a quick note to the security officers: Make sure your agents get every penny they can. Paramount's willing to overpay.
