Hollywood PrivacyWatch: Jim Carrey and Robert Downey Jr Acknowledge Each Other
Hollywood PrivacyWatch celebrity sightings are sent in by our eagle-eyed readers. Send yours to tips@defamer.com and let your favorite sitcom star know that you know he wears sweatpants to eat at The Ivy.
In this post Labor Day episode, Jim Carrey and Robert Downey, Jr dine separately at Little Door, Jennifer Aniston piloting her own SUV without benefit of a driver, Adam Brody, Patrick Fugit, and Bill Pullman at the ArcLight, Kevin Pollack shopping for Beemers, Wanda Sykes, Nick Lachey, Marisa "Beck's wife and Giovanni's sister" Ribisi and her offspring, William Shatner (now we're cooking), Jenna von Oy, and some reality TV guy named Frank Bielec.
· Double A-lister sighting at the Little Door on 3rd St. for Sunday night dinner. Jim Carrey (rocking a spikey haircut) was sitting with a group of friends at the table closest to the hostess station and was facing the door, making it impossible to miss him if you were engaged in any activities so crass as scanning the room for dining celebrities. In a more discreet position at the back of the front room was Robert Downey, Jr, with another group, and try as I might, I couldn't make out if there was a wine glass in front of him. As we were leaving, Carrey was doing a quick stopover at RDJ's table, carefully avoiding the faux pas of two celebrities dining within 50 feet of each and not acknowledging each other's magnificent existence.
· Saw Jennifer Aniston cruising west on Sunset Blvd yesterday morning in the middle of Beverly Hills. She was in her black box Landrover and I missed any nose picking.
· A multitude of B-list celebrities flocked to the ArcLight last Sunday night: Adam Brody chatting up two guys with no Rachel Bilson in sight. Patrick Fugit walking alone and talking on his cell phone. Bill Pullman sporting a rather fat head.
· Saw Kevin Pollack at the BMW dealership in Beverly Hills on Wilshire. He looked pissed, smoking a cigarette. Maybe it had something to do with being replaced by Dave Foley...
· Apparently you can't hurt a 'ho with a burrito cuz we just saw Wanda "At Large" Sykes with her crew at Cafe Sonora on La Brea. She was rather poised and as rosy as a black woman can be in a turquoise C+C cotton boat-neck t-shirt and a pink tank top underneath. Since she's normally so animated, I must say her face was a bit serene, if not, well...tight. Maybe it was the company she was keeping. She came in around 3:30 with two very large, smiling men, one of whom I believe was Lance Crouther (Pootie Tang, bitch!). But Wanda was playing it real cool, studying the menu. When she heard us whispering about her new CGI-movie "Barnyard" for Nick Movies, she snuck a peek at us. She seemed sorta surprised to be recognized.
· Walking across one of the many parking lots in the Santa Monica Business Park today, (easily a doppelganger for the office park in "Office Space"), when I see a nicely built guy in a white wife beater and huge basketball shorts walking towards me. Being a bit of an fashion oddity here in the world of button downs and khaki's, I kept looking at him just out of wonderment, when who looks up at me from beneath his noticeably-low-"I'm a celebrity, so please don't notice me"-baseball cap but Nick Lachey. When he saw the USC shirt I was wearing (Surprisingly, it was one he hasn't already worn on "Newlyweds"), he did a double take and then kept walking, keeping busy and inconspicuous by engrossing himself in the world of his cellphone. Two seconds later, I went to grab my own phone from my pocket to call a friend, when I realized that I could actually put my camera phone to good use. Alas, it was too late, since he was already in the building.
Pretty surreal since it was an empty parking lot (save the cars), with just him and me crossing it.
· I just saw Marisa Ribisi and Beck's spawn at the Baja Fresh on Sunset & Vine. She and the baby were alone, and she was on the cell phone. I didn't get a good look at the kid, but I'm sure it's all cute and alternative-looking.
· Saw William Shatner at Katsuya Sushi on Ventura on Sunday night. He was with his family, a huge entourage of about 10 people (anyone who has been to Katsuya knows that that would take up, like, half the restaurant). He looked like he was a having a great time, and even wrestled with his teenage grandson in the parking lot, but Captain Kirk sure has aged these last few years...he looks more wrinkled than a chinese shar-pei...
· Saw Six (Jenna Von Oy, sadly I know her name and her work all too well) in Bloomingdales at the Beverly Center yesterday. Laura Mercier counter. The girl at the counter to the boy at the counter, "I just waited on Six from Blossom." Boy says, "how did she look?" Girl says, "Like she wears too much makeup." WHOA!
· I'm not sure how far down on the celeb totem pole Frank Bielec lies [Ed.note—Um, who? But certainly somewhere below Jenna von Oy.], but I sighted him. (He's one of the designers on Trading Spaces). I was behind him in line at Chipotle in Hawthorne, oblivious to his proximity until a fawning fan with her two embarrassed daughters started trying to get his attention. He chatted with them briefly and then they left. He ordered some tacos and wanted ground beef in them. (They had steak.) He also tried to order something called "guacamole salad" and tried to point it out on the overhead sign, much to the confusion of the staff. I inferred that he doesn't eat at Chipotle regularly, so don't camp out there hoping to meet him!
