·If Stalker is to be believed, Fabian was denied entry into the Tommy Hilfiger after party at Maritime. Not so It Boy after all? The beginning of Fabian backlash? I was there: Farah Fawcett looking skeletal, haggard and bewildered manning a banquet with a reality show camera crew in tow (must-have accessory du jour); Lil Kim playing journalist for the Extra camera; Lizzie Grubman looking more orange and sickly skinny then ever (though one might MIGHT wonder where HER reality show camera crew was) and myriad beefy bodyguards surrounding Tommy et entourage in the "VIP" area. I asked sweetly and they let me through. When one approached and asked me to leave, claiming the area was reserved for friends of Tommy, I insisted I WAS a friend. I waved to Tommy. He waved back. Point proven, hired goon retreated.
· Mischa Barton and her oh-so hot billionaire boyfriend [Brandon Davis] at the Tommy Hilfiger party at the Maritime last Thursday night.
· Paris and Nicky Hilton, along with Nicky's new hubby [Todd Meister], dancing (albeight not well) at Marquee.
· Tonight (Sept 14) I was at Lakeside Lounge (Ave B and 10th) with some friends, and we were watching this batshit crazy girl at the bar — she was totally unwell, leaning on strangers, getting all up in other people's grills, etc. Eventually she came over to see about us, and I realized that she was not some random crazy lady, but instead a *ruined* Natasha Lyonne. She was friendly, but in an INTENSE crazy/crackhead way, and she asked for money. It was kind of awful.
· Drew and Fab sighting: strolling northward on Ave A [between 3rd and 4th Sts] circa 1am on Saturday night/Sunday morning. He was wearing the orange Reces Peanut Butter tee and black leather biker jacket and had his arm draped around Drew, who is, of course, tinier than you'd think and wearing all black with the hair back. Lots of eye makeup, which struck me as unusual. She was also wearing a white flower on her shirt, which was probably from a restaurant centerpiece or something, as one of their cohorts was sporting similar flower in his hair. Said cohort may have been Julian, dressed in all-black uniform, but I couldn't get a good look without totally rubbernecking. It appeared that a string of gawkers had formed and were *nonchalantly* meandering behind them at a slight distance. Walked parallel to them on Ave A for a block in fruitless attempt to confirm Julian, but didn't want to be a spaz so I made my overdue left towards First Ave. What the hell were the Strokes doing roaming East Village on a weekend night?! Ugh. It's painful out there lately.
· Dude. I totally just saw Drew & Fab at Cafe Orlin in the East Village. Fab was wearing his trademarked black leather jacket and has a new mustache that makes him look like a douchebag. Drew is the littlest girl in the universe, and she was dressed down in cords and big white sunglassses and some kind of t-shirt spouting some kind of liberal claptrap. They were with three or four other hipsters of varying stylishness and ethnicity. Fab was doing some kind of (possibly coked-out) impersonation shtick, and Drew looked embarrassed, like he was her stupid younger brother or something. I'd be willing to put money on them breaking up within the next couple of months.
· Saw Drew Barrymore with a laid-back group of friends having a late Supper at a LES restaurant at around 11:00 PM. Drew looked relaxed dressed in casual clothes. Her hair was loosely pulled back and she was wearing large gold earrings. She and her friends were all carrying around white flowers that were hanging out of their pants' pockets. They were shuffled downstairs to a table after only about 20 minutes of waiting. Fabrizio showed up about 30 minutes later looking very grungy. He was wearing one of his usual "Coca Cola" themed shirts and smoked outside the restaurant with a friend the entire night. Drew looks much, much skinnier in person.
· Last night at the Luca Luca show, Robert Verdi was very firmly denied an interview with Jessica Simpson, who had just spent the last fifteen minutes in a paparazzi cluster f*ck. The glasses on bald head have GOT to go!
· I saw Julia Stiles coming out of the 7th floor ladies room of Barneys. Could she have had lunch at Fred's? She was wearing the de-riguer poncho with a bright top. Her skin looked radiant and had a great smile and looked really friendly.
· Saw Jake Gyllenhaal outside of baggage claim at LaGuardia last Wednesday afternoon. As I feared, he was disappointingly short, but still super dreamy. He had a huge luggage cart loaded up with stuff, including a big cage for his dog, Atticus (yes, I know the dog's name, eat me). He played with dog as they loaded up a van with his luggage, passed along a tip to the guy helping him out and gave a very friendly grin before hopping in and being whisked away.
· Jake Gyllenhaal walking the dog on Broome St and Thompson. I can t remember, does he have shared custody with Kirsten? The German Shepard seemed to show the stress of a broken home. Jake on the other hand looked fucking hot.
· Saw Naomi Campbell, Amy Sacco, Tara Reid, etc. while in line for the bathroom at b8. (Can t forget Benicio del Torre wearing a trucker hat, how cute, he almost looked under 50). Of course whatever happens in the black abyss of the Bung Hole toilets never happened, actually if you physically try and speak about it your mouth molds shut like in The Matrix, and if you try and write it down, the letters disappear off the page as fast as you type them. To round out the night I decided to befriend slash try and pick up this guy sitting in a booth all alone. Oops, turns out he was a porn producer. He pointed to several bold faced names in the room claiming he had them all lined up to do an arty short porn. He claimed it will be like Woody Allen s Celebrity, with really really graphic sex.
· saw bjork and matthew barney at the liberty fair in chelsea (sunday). she had on gold puma boots, a sequined skirt, and a bauble-covered silver jacket, with 2 ponytails, akimbo. beautiful toddler with sandy blond hair played in booth that was all silver streamers, while matthew barney looked dignified in salt and pepper beard. they seemed like a happy little family!
· Spotted Christina Ricci and Adam Goldberg in the LES on Saturday night. She is a pocket celeb. So small, you could stuff her in your pocket and take her home. I was trying to shoot them my best "I don't care who you are" stare as Christina rocked out on the dance floor.
· i walked into Edith & Daha in the LES (i think its on Rivington) and there were only 2 other people there, Mandy Moore and a older, very pretty woman (stylist?). Moore was trying on a super cute vintage Chloe-esq dress, with the shop assistant running around manicly to find a matching belt. she was trying to decide if she could get away with a blac dress and grey slouchy boots (and eventually decided against the boots.) but she looked so fresh faced and beautiful, and was super sweet and unstar-ish. when the sales assistant mentioned a boyfriend, she even made a crack about having trouble finding one.
At the same time a friend was in Marc Jacobs in the West Village and Mischa Barton and Brandon Davis swept in. By all accounts they were the total opposite of what i just described, making their stardom felt and announcing loudly on cell phones how much free stuff they were being given.
· last night at the tsubi/nylon magazine party we saw famke janssen, mary kate olsen's ex boyfriend ( can't remember his name but he's really cute) [David Katzenberg] and i kept saying look there's liv tyler's plus size model sister. but i just remembered that shes pregnant. oops. there was no AC and it was a sweaty coffin so we had to ditch.
· i saw amanda lepore getting a smoothie at the coffee shop today with some little twink and 2 new pairs of shoes from OTP. But that is not as much fun as seeing her at the boys room on saturday nights during the amateur gogo boy contest saying that each one "would have been better if he showed his wiener."
· Ed Norton standing on 10th ave near the Chase on 23rd,
talking to an older guy. Taller than I expected. Overheard him saying something like "the public eye, it sucks". Overcame the perverse urge to punch him in the face a la Fight Club, yelling "you talk the talk! do you walk the walk? Mr. Jennifer Aniston isn't going
to get you out of this one!"
· Saw Molly Shannon yesterday (Sunday) about 12:30 pm in the check-out line at Whole Foods in Chelsea. Her cart was filled to the brim with healthy goodies, but she realized she forgot something and asked the woman behind her to hold her spot whilst she dashed back into the aisles. When she returned, she sincerely thanked the place-holder several times. Very sweet.
· Famke Janssen at Da Silvano eating with an adorable younger man with dark hair tonight at 7:30 p.m.
· SJP and Matthew Broderick eating at Mi Cocina in the West Village last Friday night.
· I spotted Sarah Jessica at Grand Sichuan on 23rd st. last night (9.13.04)...she had to wait about 15 minutes but she passed the time chatting with a version of The Turtle. Sadly we weren't seated near her so I didn't get a visual on her ability to mix and match her food Gap style.
· Moby wore a Economy Candy tee, a athletic hoodie and grease stains to the party for the Blue Man Group's DVD last night. What do vegans eat that leave grease stains? (The party was so dull that I actually tried to come up with a list: tempura, potatoes fried in the French style...). When my boss saw him she made me bring the tray of appetizers back to the chef and have her vegan-ize them. So he ate tomato and avocado sorbets in mini ice cream cones that were, respectively, a little tainted with shrip and crab.
· Saw pretty Jimmy Fallon pulling a wheely suitcase by Gramercy Park around 3 on Sunday. Does he live there? Slightly dirty looking, but cute with thick rimmed glasses and a red tshirt. We said hello and he said, "hey, longtime no see" (for no apparent reason, as we've never met before...) and then got into a taxi going uptown from 20th and 3rd.
· Franz Ferdinand were on my flight from London to New York and sitting but two rows from me in economy. What label are they signed to anyway?
· Hipster bingo galore at last night's V gallery party in SoHo with tons of bad haircuts, girls in skirts and biker boots (BARF) and cute ass guys working skater boy realness. "Ken Park" cutie Tiffany Limos (so much hotter and skinnier in person), Brandon Sexton III, the whiter/anglo looking one of the two Proenza Schouler designers [Beats us which one], a beefier Simon Rex (saying to his friend "yo, you going to smoke outside yo") and Mr. Wicker Park himself Josh Hartnett, in army cap, goatee and glasses. Hartnett showed up towards the end of the party and was really nice when the cute bartender told him the vanilla cognac (?) bar was closed. The best part of the evening was seeing Stephen Gan, the head honcho at V and best budd to Heidi Slimane, in what were probably Dior jeans that did nothing but show off his junk in the trunk, baby got back!
· we were eating an early dinner last night outside at choshi's on 19th & Irving when vanilla ice walked by and spit on the sidewalk right next to us. he was wearing a sports jersey & a baseball hat but you could glimpse some kind of weird mohawk going on underneath it. he looks every bit the faded one-hit 80s plagairism icon that he is. then after dinner, walking down 19th, or was it irving, we saw ric ocasek and paulina and their kids trying to decide where to have dinner. my boyfriend couldn't believe it: "that tall scary-looking guy married a supermodel??"
· Last Thursday, at a Tiffany's/NYPL cocktail party, among B-list actresses (Nora Affrin) and unnamed models, saw various celebs pushing their tomes, including Gloria Vanderbilt and Candace Bushnell. Gloria looked stately and charming in a more-interesting-than-you-would-expect green ensemble. I was, however, horrified to learn that Anderson Cooper is her son. I don't know why that makes me feel dirty, but it does. Ms. Bushnell was wearing a black dress, solid on top but with see through stripes on the bottom. You didn't have to stare to figure out that she was probably not sporting any underwear either. Accompanying her outfit were bright blue heels, looked like Manolo Blahnik. Did not do anything for her dress but perhaps she felt obligated to her alter ego Carrie, although she was promoting a new Ses-and-the-City-less book. She was attractive in a surprisingly normal way, like the best-kept mom on a suburban block, but with a better colorist. Her husband had too little hair on his head and too much hair on his chest, which was unfortunately on display to all as he had only buttoned 2 of the 4 buttons on his shirt.
· MK and Ashley gripping each other for dear life as they lapped the Coty party on Sunday night. I think if you could some how gel them together into one being they would have the body mass and height of a normal person. I guess I missed the memo that white after Labor Day has gone from gauche all the way to droite, half the men were wearing white blazers looking positively nautical except for J Lo, she was wearing a fur coat. She arrived at the party with an entourage of no less than 100 people leaving very little room for the gossip writers to squeeze into the VIP section. It is a good thing I can read lips, I think I saw J Lo say to Marc Anthony that she wants a divorce, either that or she wants a horse... later at The Cabanas over heard Fabian saying, "I didn t know the Cabanas are gay on Sunday!!" Oh no, wouldn t want anyone getting the wrong idea!!! He booked it out of there as fast as you can say the word homosexual.
· Moments ago, both Olsen sisters walking south on 1st ave & 7th st. Misstook at first for standard Jersey skanks, then noticed improbable emancipation and monkey-eyes. One looked almost healthy, w/ hot rolled hair. The other was sporting a fresh Jansport back pack in pink, into which she might have fit.
· Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony leaving her office building on 6th Ave between 40th and 41st street last Friday at 4 p.m. across the street from Bryant Park and Fashion Week, but no one noticed because the huge Gap promotional truck and trailer were blocking the view from the paparazzi.
· Tara Reid watching herself in the mirror of the elevator at the Hotel Gansevoort last Saturday 9/11 around 6 p.m. She was saying how beautiful she thought she was.
· The gorgeous Albert Hammond Jr. of The Strokes with his very hot girlfriend crossing Houston on Sunday. I think he had on a blazer and jeans, but could have been a mis-matching suit. Either way, they both looked like rockstars and very much in love, holding hands and
laughing.
· My favorite spotting of the day: Governor Jim McGreevey. He had three Secret Service men hanging out on the corner of Thomson and Houston...being oh so inconspicuous in their suits, dark shades and walkie talkie earpieces. They first denied that they were Secret Service, but finally admitted to it but wouldn't say who they were there to protect. About an hour later a dapper McGreevey left the restaurant Artruro's and waltzed across Houston with his suit jacket draped over one shoulder, talking away on his cell phone. He even paused for a couple minutes right in the middle of the street while he yelled the cross-streets into the phone to whoever he was talking to. Then he was accosted by several people and posed for pictures.
· I was hanging out on the afternoon of Sat. Sept. 11th at The Spring Lounge on Mulberry & Spring where the firefighters were whooping it up most of the day. Steve Buscemi came by and hung out with the boys out front for a fair while (he is an ex-firefighter, of course). Simply dressed, unassuming and very cool. He was there to chill with the FDNY but also was totally gracious to anyone who recognized him. At one point he had a couple minute conversation with a female passerby and when she parted they exchanged a hug, a real hug not one of your air-kisses or the post-modern shoulder bump. A true gentleman and a true New Yorker, whaddaguy!
· giselle bundchen and leonardo dicaprio coming out of a building on West 11th St and into a waiting car.
· stephen dorff smoking a cigarette outside of Cafe Orlin Sunday morning.
· While standing in front of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts I saw Peter Dinklage walking briskly down Broadway. He looked pissed, or maybe that's just his natural expression (remember Elf?).
· at Pipa, we tried to share the big common table with virtually every white woman who ever appeared on The Apprentice. We got shunted to the bar. Erika was very project-managerish, ordering the tapas, and collecting money for the bill. Apparently she and Heidi had been back stage at the Tommy Hilfiger show, which I overheard during one of their numerous cigarette breaks. Erika's credit card was stolen, though she wasn't too broken up about it, presumably because she started her gig with Tony Danza on Monday. Pamela, the tall lawyer from the new season, was hot-and-heavy with her even taller boyfriend; they did some kind of hump-trot down the middle of 19th Street. Yuck. Stacy R. (the little, tiny, white one) proposed a toast "to the Apprentice family." Rob, the first fire-ee from this season, was in attendance, forgetting about his wife and 4-year-old back in Texas to rub himself all over Amy or Katrina (can you tell them apart?) and a few dumpy girls in the bar.
· Kinda late-breaking, but at the Bob Guccione estate auction (held at the white-trashy George Cole auction house next to the IGA), Uma Thurman and Andre Balazs where there perusing the wares (which included some seriously tacky stuff like lamps made out of champagne bottles) being sold from his Hudson River estate (also on the block for $6 mil). Uma had on oversized black sunglasses, long bright blue peasant skirt and floppy sweater; sat in front row next to Uma's parents. Andre was winning bidder on some stoneware plates (how dare he outbid me?)
·Just saw Shandi from America's Next Top Model eating pizza at PIE on 4th Ave. Chatting away on her celly - she still sounds a little immature, but really cheery and nice. No one seemed to notice her - maybe I'm the only one obsessed with the show. Pig-tail braids, tall as anything and not as skinny as she seemed on tv. She looks great - a far cry from her Wal-Mart days for sure. Hopefully she's getting some gigs in town.
· Saw Chris Robinson and Kate Hudson strolling baby Ryder down Hudson Ave. about an hour ago. She looked her skinny self, wearing jeans and a blue tank top, he was wearing dark colors, I think corduroys. It looked like
they were really happy.
· OMG. Just passed Kate Hudson and Chris "i'm-stuck-in-1972-i was in the black-crowes" Robinson hailing a cab in no-man's-land Varick Street and King. Woah. All I can say is BLAHSAY, BORINGVILLE. Pretty uninteresting looks with a tampax commercial on-screen photoshop haze filter on ya face. Bottled Barbie - too much fun cloning goldie hawn in the sun gone wrong. I'm not 100% sure it was her. Could have been a left-over '78 edition femme-bot disguised as euro-trash. Outfit: one of those boho tops (in lower east side/upper east side glossy periwinkle). Now I know who Britney is passing along her off-the-rack-ripped-hip-hugger jeans to now that she's fat. Must have been dirty laundry day, or else hubby-homemaker was too busy smoking watertowers full of pot to pick up the dry-cleaning. STOP WATCHING DAZED AND CONFUSED TO HELP YOU PICK OUT YOUR OUTFITS. GIANT SUNGLASSES. Those are really in these days. Eh. Snoozerville.
· David "I-used-to-date-Mary-Kate-Olsen-until-she-recently-packed-on-a-few" Katzenberg outside a hotel on 62nd and Park Ave on Sunday morning around 11:30am. Wearing mesh shorts and a baggy sports tee holding the leash of a particularly ridiculous-looking mini-dog. Chatting with two conservatively-dressed young adults. Where's the faux-hawk Davey? In town to woo MK back? Despite the fact that (sadly) I am perfectly aware of who he is, I brushed passed him with needless hastiness that is customary to the Upper East Side. (when painfully hung over and visiting family friends on the Upper East, do as the Upper East Siders do )
· Saw former funnyman [Ed: when was he ever funny?] Pauly Shore enter Serafina on Friday evening. He was accompanied by a blonde (hot in a sort of generic blonde-escort-of-faded-famous-person way) and two of his entourage. The latter looked like fat frat boys: caps, long hair, T-shirts, etc. Pauly himself was wearing a Miami Vice-style white suit-jacket. He didn't smile—not once. He was ushered upstairs, presumably to where the important guests dine. He created no buzz. Everyone else there, even the B&T people (everyone), continued to eat in normal fashion. Maybe they didn't recognize him.
· Sunday evening, only steps from my humble abode, I saw Justin Theroux, from Six Feet Under (Brenda's last S&M boy), outside 7B (bar on...you guessed it...7th and Ave B). He looked skinnier in real life and was sporting a bit of a faux-hawk, but totally cut in a grungy/east village/could be a hot local bartender way.
· Alicia Goranson, a.k.a the "original Becky" from the hit tv show "Roseanne". Walking with a friend down Houston on Saturday. Haven't seen her in years, but I knew it was her right away.
·Last night saw May Anderson at Duke & Dutchess (Ritchie Akiva's new joint) looking like she stepped right off her Bryant runway...gorgeous....gorgeous
· Saw Tupac at Dean and Deluca this morning. He was eating a muffin. Alive for fashion week, he said.
