Friday
· Alicia Keys signs her book Tears for Water: Songbook of Poems & Lyrics at Book Soup tonight and at Barnes & Noble at The Grove on Saturday. Wave from the trolley!
· We continue our service of providing the hipster community with free indie-rock options: The Golden-Arms, Helen Stellar, and Foreign Born play El Cid (no cover before 10:30 pm).
· Not as free, but still a good option if you're not seeing Guided by Voices: The Gay-Gays (an all-dude Go-Gos tribute band), Tommy Keene, and the Ex-Boyfriends hit Spaceland.

Saturday
· Sassy City Chicks holds its first children's clothing sample sale at the Area 101 Stage in Hollywood. We can't guarantee you won't get strange looks if you don't actually bring a kid with you...or if you demand to try things on.
· Tour some of our city's cheeriest historical crime scenes on a sunny Saturday morning.
· If "free" isn't an essential part of you vocabulary, the celebirific 4th Annual Fashion Forward Luncheon offers booze, shopping and a fashion show. They know people spend more when they're drunk.
Sunday
· The American Music Awards might be the Grammys' retarded cousin, but there will still be after-parties. Crash away and wait for the drinks to flow and the nips to slip.
· Bands observe no days of rest: TV on the Radio with The Faint at the Mayan, and Dead Meadow drones with the Warlocks at the Echo.
