Monday Morning Box Office: Will Smith Can Do It All!
Like a big box of chocolates left on your desk by a handsy co-worker, here are your Valetine's Day weekend box office numbers:
1. Hitch—$45.3 million
Will Smith can do it all! He can blow up national monuments on the Fourth of July, he can quell a robot revolt somewhat later in July, and now he's proven he can open a brainless romantic comedy the weekend before Hallmark cows a nation of men into premature wedding proposals and overspending on candlelit dinners. We anxiously await his next incredible box office stunt.
2. Boogeyman—$10.8 million
Counterprogramming stupid romantic comedies with star power with stupid, starless horror flicks pays off.
3. Are We There Yet?—$8.5 million
No, for the last time, we are not there yet. But Ice Cube is more than halfway to $100 million with a movie that cost about $15,000.
4. Million Dollar Baby—$7.6 million
Yet another MDB spoiler for you: When Morgan Freeman's one-eyed former boxer accidentally walks in on Clint Eastwood's grizzled boxing trainer changing into his workout gear, he discovers that his longtime boss and friend is actually a hermaphrodite. Very, very hot sex follows, forever changing the dynamic between them.
5. Pooh's Heffalump Movie—$6 million
We still haven't seen any commercials for this movie, but that's probably because we zap through the commercials on Spongebob Squarepants.
