Monday Morning Box Office: The Ring Two Limps To Number One
The box office numbers that help ease that case of the Mondays:
1. The Ring Two—$36 million
$36 million sounds like a lot of money, but when you're a DreamWorks executive and you discover that the movie dropped off 12 percent from Friday to Saturday, you soil your trousers and pray the bad word of mouth doesn't kill the box office. Also, we again urge that Naomi Watts fire her agent over this sequel debacle. We hear there are some guys at William Morris who have vacancies.
2. Robots—$21.8 million
We're a little puzzled that the one-two punch of the voice talents of Robin Williams and Dan Hedaya weren't enough to make this a blockbuster.
3. The Pacifier—$12.5 million
If you have tired of our bizarre obsession with the emphatic props that Vin Diesel offered to canard extraordinaire Gary the Duck, we beg of you: Do not click on this link.
4. Ice Princess—$7 million
If we fail to mention that star Michelle Trachtenberg once played a pivotal role on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we fear that Joss Whedon fans might burn down our blog. So there, we mentioned it. You can now put away the Molotov cocktails and return to discussing how awesome the Wonder Woman movie is going to be.
We're skipping down a couple of spots, from the #5 Hitch to more a more interesting result...
7. Hostage—$5.797 million
Is Bruce Willis' career as a star over? It might be time for him to subject himself to the kind of Baldwinization process that will let him live on keep working as a supporting type.
