LA Observed notices this curious correction buried deep in the bowels of today's LAT:

Last week, Universal Pictures and the Los Angeles Times ran a promotional advertisement for "The Interpreter" which featured the logo of a third party.

Sean Penn was not consulted about this advertisement as is required in his agreement with the film's production company, Working Title. Universal Pictures regrets this oversight.

We don't subscribe to the Times (it's a newspaper, we think), so we don't know what third party's logo upset Penn. Our best guess: In a continuing attempt to torture Penn, jokester Chris Rock mocked up a logo that featured a frighteningly realistic image of Rock forcibly copulating with Jude Law's ear and smuggled it onto the Interpreter ad; this prank diluted the film's important message of peace and induced Penn into an outraged bout of man-crying.
