Just in case you missed the NYT's coverage of the New Gay Mafia (the comedy cartel that currently has the studios' collective testes in a vise and who playfully gives them a tickle whenever they've got a new movie idea), Vince Vaughn is finally a bonafide, eight-figure stah:

Asked if he would green-light a movie based on Mr. Vaughn's participation, Hutch Parker, the president of production at 20th Century Fox, recently said: "Yes, probably, presuming it's the right role. He's truly viable."

"Truly viable"? If you're going to use the press to pass a little mash note to a newly-minted A-lister, cut out the qualifiers. It's much cheaper in the long run to just deliver the full-on handjob and really get into it like you're losing ground in a weed-pulling contest. This sighing and whispering this "probably, presuming it's the right role" stuff is going to cost Fox another five million the next time they have a project for the Mafia.
