Early yesterday, we mentioned Tricia Romano's report that Norman Siegal and Paul Chevigny had filed suit on behalf of several plaintiffs regarding the cabaret laws. As a former head of the NY Civil Liberties Union, Siegal's involvement with the case comes as no surprise, but what of NYU law professor Paul Chevigny? According to a reader, Chevigny's interest in arguing the cabaret crackdown is a bit more personal:

I had Paul Chevigny for a few classes at NYU Law and the man tap dances (and has even auctioned off tickets to his tap recital to law students at the annual public interest auction). So every time I hear about the cabaret law challenge, I imagine him winning the chance to "shuffle off to buffalo" through the middle of the nearest lounge.

We'll go home and get our panties, Chevigny'll go home and get his scanties, and away to court we'll go!
