Dear Twentieth Century Fox: If you're going to throw away promotional money using sky-writers to promote your soon-to-be-also-ran superhero movie in the skies of Hollywood, at least make sure that the pilot can properly render your logo.

[A trusted, high-level Defamer operative submitted this photo, so we're sure there was no "flip horizontal" Photoshop chicanery at work—click the picture to see a larger version. We further suppose that it's possible that they were trying to advertise to passengers on commercial airlines. If so, kudos, a truly inspired plan. Finally, in the interest of fairness, we must disclose that the pilot responsible for the '4' over Redondo Beach accomplished his mission, and another operative-submitted photo follows after the jump.]

UPDATE: Let's not get into further arguments about viewing angles, the tilting of one's head to correct for its position, the height of the '4' in the sky, or its possible position in the three dimensions of the sky...from our shutterbug's vantage point near the Hills, this the logo appeared backward. I.e., a bunch of drunk people all had the opportunity to point at the sky, laugh at the braintrust behind the promotion (unless you consider the very recognition of the symbol to be successful), and then joke that Fox chairman Tom Rothman was obviously flying the plane himself.
