NYC Under Attack! If Not Now, Maybe Someday!
In case you missed the news this weekend, FEAR IS BACK! Subway bag checks are but mere apertifs to the main course, which smells like Apeshitting Paranoia with a side of Creamed Idiocy. At Penn Station yesterday, some jackass (who, after taking breakfast from a bong, probably thought the following would be "wicked awesome") threw a backpack at an Amtrak ticket agent and announced it contained a bomb. After the station was evacuated, the whole incident was deemed a prank. Nevertheless, it inspired even more vigilant action:
Also Sunday, a double-decker tourist bus was evacuated in midtown Manhattan after a bus company supervisor became suspicious of five male passengers with "stuffed" pockets. The supervisor called police, who handcuffed the men and searched about 60 passengers before determining there was no threat.
Funny, the article doesn't mention what these male passengers looked like. But we can guess. And while we believe all tourists riding on those damn buses deserve to be incarcerated (especially those who take pictures of us on our fire escapes, as if we were out there purely for the sake of urban authenticity), this strikes us as a little extreme.
