Gawker Stalker: Lindsay Lohan Stares Longingly at Ice Cream
Sightings are sent in by dehydrated readers; send yours to tips@gawker.com.
Note: We're enacting the Famke Janssen law, in which the ubiquity of a celebrity disqualifies them from Gawker Stalker. Under this rule, we are no longer accepting sightings of Entourage star Adrian Grenier. Of course you saw him three times yesterday; he's as omnipresent as pigeon shit. (Handsome pigeon shit, yes, but still.)
In this edition: Lindsay Lohan, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman, Martha Stewart, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Drew and Fab, Kate Hudson, Natalie Portman, David Cross and Albert Hammond Jr., Jennifer Connelly and spawn, Mercedes Reuhl, Elvis Costello, Fergie, Salman Rushdie, Marc Jacobs, Lauren Hutton, Rob Cordry, Stephen Baldwin and Bob Saget.
Saw Lindsay Lohan Fri night at Scoops in East Hampton — the ice cream store (she had water). She was loving all the attention she got as people (myself included) gawked from inside and outside the store. She was TINY in person- shorter that I expected and skinnier than in magazines. She was decked to go "out" had on way too much makeup and a ton of jewelry, but was surprisingly really sweet to a few little girls who excitedly approached her. She talked to them for more than a few minutes and posed for a few pics before speeding away in a black truck w/chauffer.
Spotted Keith Urban riding the down escalator like a lord of freakin' Dogtown yesterday 8/9 in the deserted Loew's theatre at 34th and 8th around 5:20. With total stalker skill I predicted Nicole Kidman would be 100 feet behind him and BANG there she was. Tall as hell, gorgeous, casual — and the 10 people in the vicinity didn't notice her. Theatre was showing War of the Worlds. Think she waited THIS long? Zing!
Heading back to work after lunch today (Aug 9, 2005) I was surprised to see Martha Stewart coming out of Beasty Feast, an upscale pet store on 9th avenue, just north of jane street. As she hopped into a waiting black SUV, I (and everyone else on the sidewalk) gazed at her. On 7 Ave South in the village while yapping on my cell phone, I saw Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin on Friday at around 10 pm. They were probably five feet away from me. I saw him first and made fleeting eye contact. She was tall and beautiful (ponytail, white tank top, pale pink pants), holding his hand. She paused in front of me, and said something to him, then they kept walking while I blatantly stared.
I saw Sarah Michelle Gellar smoking a cigarette with her gal pals outside the Stone Rose in NYC a couple of weeks ago. She looks great in brown hair but I didn't realize she was a smoker.
Walking yesterday 8/9 on Lafayette (near Broome) in SoHo and spotted Drew Barrymore and her boyfriend Fabrizio Moretti. He is surprisingly tall & very thin, and she is surprisingly short and way prettier in person. She was sucking down a Starbucks and he was chatting on his cell phone.
Was waiting for a table outside at Frankies 457 in Brooklyn last night 8/9 when I noticed a woman who was a little too hip looking arriving while we were waiting to be seated. The owner greeted her and whisked her to her table ahead of the line. When we were seated next to her a little while later we realized it was Kate Hudson. She looked damn good, except for the fedora she was rocking. Was highly audible whenever she spoke to the table, but seemed to be a nice person. One of my friends said something to her about being a Crows fan when she started singing lyrics to her table. She told us I was a fan of them before I married him sweet.
Natalie Portman was talking a walk in the Conservatory Gardens in Central Park on Monday afternoon 8/8. Very tiny, with a very large head further accentuated with humongous sunglasses.
Sitting innocently in the balcony at the Kings of Leon show at the Roseland on Monday 8/8, when two mangy hipsters decide to scramble over the bar into VIPLand—stepping on my hand and nearly kicking me in the head in the process. thank you David Cross and Albert Hammond, jr. Albert scratched his afro fanatically through the whole show (David not so much, what with the baldness), which made me itchy like when we had to watch lice filmstrips in 3rd grade...
I came to realize that cameras do add a couple of pounds when i have spotted the painstakingly pin thin Jennifer Connelly this morning (8/10) at the prospect park playground number 3. Located off 3rd street and Prospect Park West, Brooklyn. She was with her 2 kids and came to keep the youngest one busy on the swing and jungle gym for about an hour. The kids first caught my attention with their dos a la Maddox (ok it's really a Mohawk) and then I looked closer at the mom sporting a simple white 3/4 sleeve white shirt and pale blue capris, and realized right away it was Jennifer Connelly. She had an awkward moment when she first got in the playground, but quickly relaxed as no one was trying to mug her for an autograph, although I overheard half the nannies commenting on "this actress with her sons".
East Hampton - last Wednesday, saw Mercedes Reuhl putting a relative on the New York bound Jitney. They were blowing kisses to each other as the bus pulled out. I'll never forget her as Gia's mother.
8/9 @ 6 pm, saw Elvis Costello at the Rite Aid on the corner of 13th and 6th purchasing not one, but two bright pink boxes of Playtex tampons. Diana Krall was nowhere to be seen, but one can only assume. He looked very nonchalant in head-to-toe black and sunglasses. Frankly, he could have been purchasing a case of Preparation-H and made it look cool.
Saw Fergie sitting outside for lunch at Da Silvano on 8/10. She had on very natural makeup, giving her a much more soft-featured and almost female appearance. Those eyebrows and that voice, though...ugh.
Salman Rushdie was at the M.I.A. show at Summerstage on Sunday 8/7. He was with his wife and a young boy in the V.I.P. tent. He was looking pretty obvious; standing and scoping the crowd. He didn't dance. He left right after DJ Rekha's beginning set. I thought he would have
stuck around to see the headliner.
Tuesday, August 9th, Marc Jacobs wearing a long sleeve shirt, a sweater (in this heat?) and thick glasses, in the second row at the evening performance of "The Pillowman". Oddly enough he was sitting next to a woman in a baseball cap, who before the show was outside holding a small sign that said "I need a ticket". Perhaps he came to her rescue.
Ducked into the Mercer Kitchen cafe Sunday for dinner. In walks Lauren Hutton with a young male companion, dressed like an Eminem video extra. The restaurant staff immediately started oogling Hutton's purse—a funky looking bag covered in chunks of fake plastic grass. She was casual, wearing green capri pants (which allowed her to put her foot up on on her chair seat) and a grafitti-splattered florescent orange trucker's hat, pulled low over her face. There was hardly anyone in the cafe, yet she still leaned toward her dining companion keeping her voice low to almost a whisper. Perhaps this was because he was excitedly talking about an idea he had for a film, including a scene in which several Clydesdale horses get sprayed with a firehose. Seriously.
Last night 8/9 at about 8 oclock at Wogies on Greenwich Street, I saw Rob Corddry from the Daily Show come to the rescue of a woman who had been slapped by a man. I was having a drink and heard some dogs screeching and looked up to see two dogs being walked by a large man getting into a fight with another dog being walked by a small woman. The man and woman started shouting at each other about thier dogs. The man continued to shout and then slapped this little woman very hard in the face. The next thing I know I see someone leap up from a few tables over from me and runs across the street to pull this man off of the woman. Nobody else even tried to help. The person who came to this woman's aid looked really familiar and it was Rob Corddry. He pulled the guy (who was much bigger than him) off of the woman. The guy realized everybody was looking at him and quickly walked off with his dogs. The woman was not hurt by seemed pretty shaken up.
Sat right next to a heavily tattooed Stephen Baldwin at the Jet Blue Terminal @ JFK on August 1st 9:35 am.... He had a backpack & was carrying around a skateboard, was wearing jeans & hooded sweatshirt with a frank Sinatra style hat. I'm pretty sure I was the only one who noticed him as he fiddled his way thru the magazines at the thrift shop before heading off to his gate in the opposite direction. Guess with his income in decline, He can only afford to take economy flights.
Last night (8/8/05) I was getting a drink around 11pm at the Tribeca Grand and I spot Bob Saget sitting in the corner shoveling food in his mouth and occasionally taking a break to type on his laptop.
