Even in an article about 40 Year Old Virgin star Steve Carrell's ascendance from Daily Show player to above-the-title comedy star, a piece that has nothing to do with Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo or any of Rob Schneider's other films, the sensitive, beleaguered SNL alum must suffer the malicious slings and gratuitous arrows of journalists using him as a tossed-off punchline. From the NY Times (bold ours):

If Mr. Carell does, in fact, emerge as the film-comedy hot property, competing for roles against the likes of Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughan, Will Ferrell (or, if things go horribly wrong, Rob Schneider), he will undoubtedly owe much of his success to the cachet that comes from his four years in the cast of "The Daily Show," where he honed the deadpan obliviousness that led to "Bruce Almighty" (where he arguably outshone Jim Carrey), "Anchorman" and "The Office."

Before Schneider goes off half-cocked to write another attack ad (Q: Is he ever going to live that down? A: Probably not.), he might want to save the effort for longtime nemesis Roger Ebert, who whips out his Pulitzer before bitchslapping European Gigolo:

But Schneider is correct, and Patrick Goldstein has not yet won a Pulitzer Prize. Therefore, Goldstein is not qualified to complain that Columbia financed "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo" while passing on the opportunity to participate in "Million Dollar Baby," "Ray," "The Aviator," "Sideways" and "Finding Neverland." As chance would have it, I have won the Pulitzer Prize, and so I am qualified. Speaking in my official capacity as a Pulitzer Prize winner, Mr. Schneider, your movie sucks.
