A New Ford at Conde Nast
The latest round of musical chairs at Conde Nast comes to an end today, with a ringer coming in to fill the final slot left open by last week's publisher shift: Lance Ford will replace Alan Katz as publisher of Cargo.
Katz, you'll recall, moved to Vanity Fair when Lou Cona moved from there to The New Yorker when David Carey left The New Yorker to head up the business side of Conde's brand-new, as-yet-unnamed business-mag group.
Ford is most recently a vet of American Media, where he spent a whopping three months as advertising veep earlier this year and, word was, didn't so much get along with AMI chief David Pecker. We suspect he'll last longer at Conde; he started his career there before joining Dennis Publications as founding publisher of Maxim.
