It seems we're about the only people in New York City — well, us and that tipster — who didn't already know all about the taxicab cops. But in case there are one or two other ignorami out there, we'll pass on the details we've learned today about these stealth vehicles.

• Taxis with medallion numbers started in 6Y are the cop cabs.
• They like to cruise the West 20s megaclub area late on weekend nights, looking for people drinking in public, urinating in public, or generally being drunken idiots.
• They typically don't have meters, have a different style of license plate, and sport a solid black antenna.
• The 10th precinct in Chelsea has one, and it's often parked out front, on West 20th Street.

So now you know what to look for before cracking open that 40.

Good luck.
