We're all cosmopolitan internationalists here, of course. But it's so much easier to be in favor of world government when that world government doesn't fuck up our traffic. As the Post reports:

New Yorkers could be facing the worst traffic congestion in city history this week, with 170 presidents, prime ministers and princes converging on the United Nations for what will be the largest gathering of world leaders ever.

The three-day summit marking the U.N. General Assembly's 60th anniversary is also expected to be the NYPD's largest security challenge since last year's Republican National Convention, according to Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

Parts of the FDR will be closed at various times over the next few days. The FDR entrance and exit ramps on 42nd Street will be closed for all of the next few days. And all the streets around the U.N. and the Waldorf will be disasters, too.

All of which makes us wonder: Aren't these sorts of events supposed to happen in Geneva?
