A tipster reports:

I was by the BBQ grills in Prospect Park (around 9th st.) Sunday evening and witnessed several New Yorker staffers about to get written up by the po-po. Many (some donning New Yorker softball team t-shirts) were drinking openly from Brooklyn Lager bottles. The nice policewoman had asked us earlier to keep our bottles out of site and keep our beer in cups. The Remnickniks weren't so lucky. Policewoman collected IDs at one point and then called for backup (!!!). The NYers seemed to be practicing some sort of nonviolent protest, continuing to drink their beers and grill their food as the three cops' radios crackled. [...] Philip Gourevitch was definitely at the picnic! He left with what looked like wife and baby after the first cop got there but before backup arrived. Almost a joint Paris Review / New Yorker bust. Dellinger also may have been there.

Sources within the New Yorker organization refuse to comment — possibly because they are too badass. We just want to know if David Denby will be as popular in prison as Judy Miller.
