I suppose this doesn't really count as a "chance sighting", but here ya go. Saturday (10/29) my friends and I went to the Audioslave concert at MSG, mainly to get a nice glimpse of Jared Leto during 30 Seconds to Sucks (I mean, um, Mars) opening act. To our gleeful surprise, they did a "meet and greet" at the merch table after their performance. Seriously, though, was Leto high on rat poison or something? The guy was weird. After he signed sloppy arrows on our rip-off CDs (while looking in the opposite direction, might I add) my friends and I waited on the side to get pictures with him. He came out like a total freak, with his big owl eyes not even looking into the camera. We mumbled a verrrry quiet "thanks" which he surprisingly returned with a long awe-filled stare. Strange.

Senator John Kerry was seen having dinner with daughter Alexandra Friday night at The Spotted Pig in West Village. Amidst the swarm of young liberals lining up to give their best condolences to the former Presidential candidate, D-Lister Jon Farb was spotted pounding a few drinks at the bar with his crew.

Saturday 10/29 at Bungalow spotted Spike Lee early on, was forced to vacate plush bunches when hostess ushered in Lindsay Lohan and agent, and was told the tiny thing running around in black mask was Ashley Olsen. Fabian Basabe was dressed as bow tied "F. Scott Fitzgerald," and his wife as Daisy, but apparently she decided not to stick around...

Ended up at Bungalow last night and was enjoying drinks and the cute boys at my table when I see a cloud of midget girls sweep in from the door. Next thing I know, Ashley Olsen and her minions had commandeered our seats. Ashley s roots are really bad and she was wearing a signature Olsen tent dress. Sandra Bullock and her husband were there as well he's much cuter in person, less harsh-looking. They were sitting with Amy Sacco, whom I have yet to see and not immediately tremble in fear. She just feels scary. And as if that wasn't enough celebrity excitement, Karolina Kurkova was dancing around the joint. She's not that tall, but she is that hot. It was a regular treasure trove of
thrills.

Just saw Jerry Seinfeld and family arriving at the Beresford. Based on the throng of help unpacking their car, looks like they just got home from a weekend away. Vintage Jerry with the crisp blue jeans and blinding white sneakers.

Saw Maggie Gyllenhaal walking down Mott St today at 3:30 (Sunday, 10/30), just south of Prince. She gazed straight ahead with a sort of knowing half smile fixed on her face, taking big strides. Surprisingly, she didn't seem that tall or that skinny. She was wearing a bulky hip length camel colored sweater wrap; maybe that's why.

Spotted Jonathan Safran Foer walking down 7th Ave in Park Slope talking on his cell phone Sunday afternoon around 3pm; about 5 minutes later on the other side of the street I encountered John Turturro with his son, who I'd guess was about 8-9 yrs old and the spitting image of dad sans the wiry hair. It sounded as if they were discussing various Halloween event alternatives they had to choose from.

On Saturday afternoon: Chelsea Clinton at the Union Square Farmers Market. She was talking on her cell phone and looked very nice in a knee-length denim jacket.

I come all the way from LA only to have a great celebrity sighting in New York. Tuesday night (10/25) we had dinner at Il Mulino in the village; so did Nic Cage and his waitress/wife. Nic was sporting a full-on mustache.

Ms Uma Balazs Thurman having a casual dinner at Hampton Chutney. She's like so down to earth.

I saw Prince Albert of Monaco in the VIP room at Fredrick's last night. He spent a good part of his evening dancing and hanging out with a tall, gorgeous, blonde American girl - who didn't look too unlike a longhaired version of his mother, Grace Kelly. Not sure who she was, but she was stunning and he clearly had no interest in any one else. At least for last night! Prince Albert was really nice to every one who came up to him and was extremely gracious. There was also literally a line of women waiting to talk to him, but he was seemingly smitten. He did dance with a group of eager women for one song, but quickly returned to his girlfriend/date right after. He seemed like a really nice, good-natured, and unpretentious guy.

Spotted an actress who actually has talent Kate Winslet shopping at Zara in Flatiron District today. Gorgeous, despite being dressed in a scrubby "this is my shopping outfit" outfit. She was marching around the store looking very determined, while her brother (?) idled in the middle of the store, yawning and rocking sleeping child in baby carriage.

Mid-afternoon today (Wednesday, Oct.26th) Bruce Springsteen arrived on the corner of 14th and 9th to grab a bite to eat at The Diner (new to the Meat Packing District). With a woman (assumed to be his wife) as guest, he sat down at the bar (as there was no where else to sit). They ate a bowl of chicken soup and a turkey Cobb wrap and drank bottled water. Both were described as being super-nice and as wonderful tippers.

Yesterday (10/25/05) at late lunch w/ colleagues, I saw Ed Burns w/o Christy Turlington. He was with three businessy looking guys at back table.

On Monday I spotted Matthew Broderick walking near Waverly Place and Sixth Avenue, Starbucks in hand. He was dressed appropriately for the weather (unlike myself) in a down jacket and scarf. He is, of course, short, but does not look a day older than he did in Ferris Bueller. How is that possible?

Although I went to France for a week, my trip was neatly sandwiched by two Italian celebrity sightings. In the food court at Kennedy on 10/17 I saw Fabrizio Moretti - looking just as lanky, scruffy, and hot as he does in all pictures wandering around with some other dude carrying a guitar. Incidentally both my outbound and return flights showed "Fever Pitch, starring his girl Drew.
Yesterday (Wednesday, October 26th) afternoon, Liv Tyler and son Milo (accompanied by a nanny) were spotted leaving the new West Village children s shop Disco Lemonade. They left with a large bag full of goodies for Milo and mommy.

Last night (10/25) I saw Christine Taylor (aka Ben Stiller's wife) at the last preview of "See What I Wanna See" at the Public Theater downtown...I heard she recently had a baby but she is RAIL thin. She seemed to enjoy the show and I heard her raving about Idina Menzel's phenomenal performance, and I have to agree, Idina rocked!

I went to the GMA 30th Anniversary Party the other day and saw Barbara Walters, Larry King, the GMA Family, Petra Nemcova, Jonathan Antin from Blow Out, Paula Zahn, Joan Lunden, Pat O'Brien, Lauren Hutton, Kathie Lee, Mo Rocca, and all the anchors from WABC. All the anchors were pretty, but Liz Cho is the most beautiful anchor by far, and obviously Petra Nemcova was stunning. Lauren Hutton and Diane Sawyer look fantastic for their age, too.

Friday Night 10/28, at 'Cesca restaurant on the upper west side uselessly handsome Kyle Mclaughlin with his wife and another couple looking quite cute, he was kind and considerate to all those around him, in contrast. Ann Coulter and some old dude who I imagine is her sugar daddy or something. Wearing a tiny skirt to showcase her infamous legs, she looked like and behaved like a bitch.

Saw Bob Costas at Del Frisco's with a couple of other suits. Top floor, corner table, he looked just like he does on TV.

10/26 - Went with some friends to Amanda Stern's Happy Ending Series to hear Bullshit author Nick Flynn read and saw Lili Taylor who is totally beautiful. I had no idea. She has the absolute best hair and she's all cut now. Girl looked gooooood.

Met Susie Essman of Curb Your Enthusiasm fame at the seeds of peace comedy benefit. She was incredibly sweet and recommended hair products to my curly-haired friend, but still has the mouth of a sailor.

On the night of 10/27, Michael Richards, "Cosmo Kramer" from Seinfeld walking down Madison Avenue with a surprisingly pretty, very thin, and hip (young) looking blonde. I thought he looked like a familiar looking older man, so I was staring, then when I figured out it was him; he turned back and smiled—-very nice! They were arm in arm and crossed the street to go to Nello around 7:30. As a lover of Seinfeld I wanted to push him and yell, "Get out!" Lucky for him that he doesn t have the poofy hair anymore.

Saw David Blaine today at the Union Square whole Foods around 2pm. He was shopping with a posse of 3 other guys. Except for the slight paunch (well, he is a magician and not an actor so need to have washboard abs, I guess), he looked good and appeared to be shopping without anyone recognizing him.

I met Rachel Ray last night (10/25) at Cafe St. Bart's for the launch of her new magazine. I know some think she's annoying, but I have to say: she was adorable (tiniest, natural? nose), gracious, and as a bonus, she called me beautiful. I also thought it was way cute that she's still enamored with her fame her itty-bitty mom and other relatives were there to celebrate, and her new hubby John Cusimano's band "The Cringe" played the party. And as hoped, the food was YUM-O.

I was just checking out the Shirin Neshat show at Barbara Gladstone Gallery on 24th street when in walked Farrah Diba, the former Empress of Iran wife of the late Shah. She had like six bodyguards with her. I thought it was verrrry ironic that she'd be looking at the work of an artist who deals with issues of Muslim/female identity...but who's to say?

Wednesday overnight flight LAX to JFK, Geraldo Rivera and his lacky assistant trying to look important while popping pills in the common folks waiting area.

Saturday (10/22) I was exiting a building on 56th Street and almost ran smack into Alison Janey who was wearing a sweat suit with the hood up and talking on her cell phone, apparently trying to get to Bendel's.

This does not really count, but this morning (10/27) Bon Jovi was filming a video on the traffic island on CPS in front of Columbus Circle. It was just funny because you realize how bizarre his and the band's hairstyles are when you see them surrounded by normal people trying to get to work.

I spotted Mike D of the Beastie Boys today (10/28) at 1:10pm on the corner of Worth and Church Streets. He was in all black and he was pushing a black stroller. I caught his eye and then he quickly crossed the street towards the West Side!

Saw Shitbrick (Eddie Kaye Thomas) hustling up the escalator @ Virgin Megastore Union Square today (10/26) — obviously going home to drop deuce.

Last night at Quo I had one of the strangest experiences. I'm just off having a good time and in roll some reality TV cameras filming a group of people and up come the king of parties himself Keith Collins with the Cowboy (Randy Jones) from the Village People having a great time. About 45 minutes later there is a surprise performance from Chris Trousdale from Dreamstreet who was amazing, and then The Cowboy performs YMCA and falls off the stage onto a group of photographers. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. I forgot to say that the Dell Guy introduced Keith The Dell Guy!!! That would have been cool like 5 years ago! Other sightings at Quo were filmmaker Chris Barrett along with singer Kelis.
