In this rather ho-hum Monday edition: Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, and a puppy; Scarlett and Harnett, Lindsay Lohan at Soho Grand, Adam Sandler, Nicole Kidman in DC, Morrissey and Johnny Marr, Willem Dafoe, John Mayer, Alec Baldwin, John McEnroe, Bill Clinton, Anderson Cooper, Michelle Branch, Nick Valensi, Amy Poehler and Will Arnett, Molly Ringwald, Tate Donovan, Mariska Hargitay, Tom Ford, Carolyn Murphy, Aerin Lauder, Barbara Walters, Stephen King, Lesley Gore, Alexis Stewart, Holland Taylor, Annette Benning, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sting, Marcus Schenkenberg, Fabian Basabe, Usher, Betsey Johnson, Tony Yayo, Brad Garrett, James Carville, Eddie Izzard, Jacinda Barrett, and Wayne Knight.

Saw Jake Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard with a puppy on Prince St. tonight in Soho (11/4). They were standing outside of a van being discreet but cordial to passersby. Bubble Boy is much taller in person and was sporting his usually casual/purposeful mussed hair. I assume both are in town promoting Jarhead. Maggie was nowhere in sight.

I saw Scarlett Johansson and Josh Hartnett at "Slava's Snowshow on Thursday 11/3. He was wearing a hat and glasses, and she had hair pulled back with that little bump the way she always does. I saw no PDA. They were sitting in our row, and right at the beginning of the show they were rustling a bag of candy a lot. I thought I was going to have to shush them, which both scared and exhilarated me, but they quieted up soon. They moved to the back at intermission with their friends from another row and hightailed it out at curtain call.

Two things for you. One is that I spied Lindsay Lohan getting out of her SUV and going into the Soho Grand last night. She was shooting devil glares at the sole paparazzi snapping. Unfortunately I'd had about 2.5 glasses of wine too much so I can't tell you if she was with Jordan Catalano, but lets just assume because it's better that way. And I'm one of the gays, but even I was attracted to Brooke Shields, who was spotted at the 11/3 showing of "Doubt." She glowed.

Saw Adam Sandler filming a car scene for his movie "Click" on 53rd & Park today around 4 PM. He looked cute from far away, but up close he looked a lot older. He was really friendly between takes and after they finished shooting, responding to one guy who screamed that his friend went to high school with him. He also posed for a picture with a guy's baby.

Ok, so I'm a Washington DC resident, so you guys might not care, but while walking to the Metro yesterday I saw a ravishing Nicole Kidman, I'd heard rumors she was in town filming some ridiculous movie, but there she was, all 700 feet of her, surrounded by underlings on Calvert Street. She looked amazing, I'm a homo and I'd do her. Like a complete dork I waved, and praise Jesus, she waved back thus saving me from having to commit suicide for extreme embarrassment.

Just had dinner at Daniel with some work friends, when I noticed an older and wiser Johnny Marr of the Smiths coming in as we were going out. I stopped to gawk because, well that is what you do, and as he went to his table, he shook his dining partners hand...it was a greying Morrissey. I was too stunned to get an autograph. Talk about a 1980s dream dinner.

Had a late lunch today (11/4) at Saint Ambroeus in the West Village, and we sat outside. Lo and behold, Willem Dafoe was one table over, having cappuccino with a friend. He's a pretty small guy, with a great haircut and a classy, relaxed look about him. Not the least bit creepy, and instantly recognizable.

Almost bumped into John Mayer yesterday (11/2) at the New York Sports Club on Broadway and Broome while, eerily, "Bigger Than My Body" was playing on my iPod. I was more taken aback by the coincidence than the fact that he was longhaired and a bit haggard (though surprisingly tall).

Saturday morning, 11 am in front of the post office on west 10th street, I saw Alec Baldwin dressed to the nines (black tie). Was he doing the walk of shame? He had a very young Asian woman on his arm. He definitely lives up to his nickname, the Bloviator, he is very short (5 '6" tops) and chunky. He was on his cell and she was trying to get attention. They were walking toward 6th Avenue but stopped and started to make out. I would've stalked them but I was also doing the walk of shame.

My boyfriend and I were at Rosa Mexicano on the UWS eating guacamole as fast as possible when John McEnroe comes and sits right next to us with his group. He's tall and skinny and was wearing a hat, I guess trying not to get noticed. My two pomegranate margarita vision wasn't fooled though. We decided to walk home since it was a nice night and we passed Bill Clinton going into the shops at Columbus Circle. Not sure if he was there to eat at Per Se, but he definitely had about 6 secret service guys with him. Being the good gawkers we are, we followed him right in, and boy he loved all the attention.

Spotted Anderson Cooper last night (11/3) on the corner of 39th and 6th. He looked perturbed as he fiddled with a cellphone/blackberry. The "360" view was lookin' good too bad he doesn't bat for my team. Also, more slight than I would have suspected. How does he stay vertical in those hurricane gale force winds? Surprised he hasn't pulled a Roker and toppled over from a strong gust.

11/05, 11:30am, I was at Lafayette and Broome when the most adorable little longhaired dachshund puppy came waddling up to the corner. I was about to pounce on it, when my eyes followed the long leash up to the owner, and realized it was singer Michelle Branch, most recently famous for lending her youth cred to Carlos Santana (and getting some of his authenticity in return). Sadly, I refrained from saying hi to the puppy because I was afraid she'd think I was using the puppy to get creepy on her.

The celebs were on the move this weekend. Friday, I saw Nick Valensi of the Strokes scurry into the Corner Bistro for pick up. Shortly after that we saw Amy Poehler and Will Arnett at the movie theater on 19th and Broadway taking in Jarhead. I kept turning around to gawk. Gob is hot and Amy is beautiful. Also on Friday, my roommate saw Molly Ringwald walking her dog on 11th and A. And finally, Jimmy Cooper himself, Tate Donovan jogged by us on 4th ave in Brooklyn while running the marathon.

Sunday 11/6, 5PM. Saw Mariska Hargitay walking up W. Broadway across from the Soho Grand. She looked a little drawn, the wan afternoon light wasn't doing her any favors, and she had lines underneath her eyes. Otherwise, dressed in what looked like her SVU duds. She must have been annoyed because as I walked past her she barked a loud, and rather strident "what!?!" into her cellphone.

Saw Tom Ford, Carolyn Murphy, and Aerin Lauder at the Saks 5th Avenue launch of Tom Ford's new color collection for Estee Lauder. Tom Ford was as gorgeous as ever. He was personalizing autographs for all those (including me!) who bought his new color collection (expensive but the packaging is ridiculously decadent). Although I was super intimidated by him, he was surprisingly very nice. Then Carolyn Murphy was walking around looking as stunning as ever. She was shorter than I thought she would be, but just as thin as one would imagine. Honestly though, we were hoping that Gwyneth would show up (since she's the new face of Estee Lauder), but alas we had to do with only a fashion god and a supermodel.

Saw Barbara Walters, looking not a day under 120, standing on the sidewalk on Sixth Avenue. Standing with a really tall, younger dude in a suit...seemed to be waiting for a car. A strong breeze swept by, and I fully expected her to topple and shatter.

Saw Stephen King at last night's (11/03) performance of "Spamalot." He was there with his wife and maybe daughter? They all seemed to go by in a flash of denim. Noticed him slip a neatly, discreetly folded bill into the appointed charity bucket after the show. He seemed nice enough, but he does have a certain unnerving look about him. The whole beady eyed, "I sequester myself in my turret and write about bad clowns in the dark" thing. Maybe that's just me. He was very kind to his wife, and they seemed quite happy.

The whole gamut last weekend...Lesley "It's My Party and I m finally out of the closet" Gore getting her hair done at Frederick Fekkai. Odd looking-elfin but with a HUGE head. Kept the shades on. Also at FF, the very hot namesake blonding up a GORGEOUS, towering and very nice Alexis Stewart. Holland Taylor from Charlie Sheen comeback show Two and a Half Men eating at Craft with 2 other women. Beautifully dressed, stunning older woman, very funny teasing staff and explaining to some guy that the reason he recognized her was NOT because she was "Annette Benning."

On Sunday, 13th St. schoolyard, Philip Seymour Hoffman and wife pushing the cutest baby I have ever seen in a swing. He glowed when he looked at the kid—not so much when he saw me smiling at the kid. But I could have cared less about him, it was that baby that was so beguiling.

Just arrived back from Bungalow, where we were evicted from our table to make way for another appearance by Sting. The demure Ms. Pamela Anderson's boyfriend Marcus Schenkenberg chatted sporadically with Amy Sacco, but mostly milled about with no one to talk to. Inevitably, Fabian Basabe was present— and not infrequently led around by a tall male companion. Ending the night was the arrival of the unbelievably diminutive Usher, with bodyguard, sharply dressed posse and yes, skullcap.

Just saw Betsey Johnson all rag doll/baby Jane-ish outside of dock's (yes, the one on 3rd ave and 40th) dressed in full ridiculous garb.

Out at first nights at the Brooklyn Museum and some friends and mine went to Bar Sepia down the street. We were hanging at the bar and Tony Yayo showed up outside the bar. Not really sure what he was doing in Prospect Heights, but my friend saw him go into an apartment next door and come out a few minutes later. Another friend of mine went outside and introduced himself. Then Tony hopped into his Escalade with his hype man and bodyguard.

I saw Brad Garrett (the dumb cop brother from "Everbody Loves Raymond") last night walking into the W hotel in Times Square. He was the tallest person I have ever seen.

I just saw James Carville on Madison at 51st street looking exactly as he does on TV (and in Old School!) He had a copy of the Financial Times poking out of his back pocket. Oh and on Wednesday (11/2) I saw Anne Hathaway on 51st between Park and Lex where she was filming the Devil Wears Prada. She gave me her stunningly gorgeous movie star smile when she saw I recognized her. Well, maybe she's not exactly a movie star but who didn't love The Princess Diaries?

Saw Eddie Izzard last night (sans makeup and heels) waiting to cross the street on the southeast corner of Bleeker and Thompson. He was with a couple of shaggy haired hipster guys.

Friday, 11/04/05, I was on my way back to work at around noon, walking past the throngs of annoying tourists at Rockefeller center when I saw a freakishly tall and thin model-type dressed all in black walking through the crowd. It was a stone-faced Jacinda Barrett, of Real World London and Bridget Jones 2 fame, who was in that movie with Anthony Hopkins and fellow scarily tall and thin actress Nicole Kidman. She was trailed by her actor hubby, Gabriel Macht, scruffy with his head hunched over, talking on his cellphone. Barrett is very pretty, but her skin was surprisingly not so hot.

While walking up 9th Ave to W.49th Street, to meet my friend, on Friday, October 28th, I walked passed Wayne Knight 'Newman' from Seinfeld. He looked exactly the same as he did on Seinfeld heavyset and pissed off. Type casting?
