Last night (11/21) in the pouring rain, walking home from Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn, I turned into a dark little shortcut alley I think somewhere near 3rd Ave, and instead of getting beaten and mugged, I ran into an impeccably dressed Morgan Freeman in a leather coat and big white beard being escorted— by his own personal UMBRELLA HOLDER and fancy-luggage carrier— out of an SUV and around a corner. I'm not ruling out the possibility that I'm racist, but I really am sure it was him, he looked me straight in the eye. Dying to know what he was doing there.
Bono just strolled through the MTV lobby. He was wearing red-lensed sunglasses (the better to filter out the harsh, harsh light, or to look at the world through rose-colored glasses?) and a straw cowboy hat (not very appropriate for such stormy, frigid weather). He's shorter than anyone of us thought.
Saw Matt Damon running on West 4th Street near Broadway towards Washington Square Park on Sunday 11/20 at around noon. Sad to say that he actually seemed to be good-looking. But why the hell would he run on the street if not for attention?
Everyone was in a frenzy with Usher shopping at saks on 11/22. sniffed candles at jo malone's long enough for everyone in the makeup counters to see him. then him, his pretty lady friend and big bodyguard went to the elevators where they packed themselves into the crowded elevator. when a young fan approached him, he blatantly ignored her while his pretty lady friend brushed her away. then saw him about 45 minutes later perusing prada and gucci, saw no purchases in hand.
Last night (11/22) I saw Lucy Liu at the Flatiron Lounge. She was drinking champagne with a brown-haired, bearded fellow. They looked very cosy.
Tuesday evening, 11/22 i saw Heather Graham (aka rollergirl) stop into Freemans on the lower east side. she literally breezed in, said hi to the proprietor, then she sat down at someone's table for like 5 minutes, got upand left. she is very tall, and was wearing a cool coat. unfortunately there's not much more exciting to say about this, but heather graham looks great, and much younger than her age which I just looked up is almost 36.
Saw Nick Lachey in the lobby of the Time Life building, Friday 11/18. He was with an entourage of guys, but they looked more like handlers than buds. My fellow stalkers reported that he was in fact wearing his wedding ring. Although I don't usually go for the spiky hair/tattoos/man-jewelry look, I must say that he was spectacularly cute.
Filming of "Super Ex-Girlfriend" took over a couple of blocks in my East Village 'hood this weekend. Finally remembered to walk over and stare on Sunday night (11/20) and was rewarded with a sighting of a rather pudgey looking Luke Wilson. I guess his body didn't look that fat, but he has a rather large, round head. Or maybe it's just a bad haircut? Anyway, I had to stop my diagnosis of his weight/head issues when some mean PA-type scurried down the sidewalk admonishing, "Unless you're paid to be here, move along!"
Passed by Mikhail Baryshnikov while walking along Washington Square North on Monday afternoon. He was pushing a stroller...young kids? Grandkids? I almost didn't see him; I was too busy trying to solve the goddamned sudoku from amNewYork. When I told all my friends, no one knew who I was talking about until I said "Petrovsky."
Had lunch at Atlantic Grill on the UES on Monday 11/21. Two girls at a table next to uswere waiting on one more person and that person turned out to be Sarah Michelle Gellar. She looked adorable in a jeans, black jacket, newsboy cap and giant gold hoop earrings. She is tiny of course and had a smidge too much blush on but is truly adorable. Something must have been wrong with her table though, they moved shortly after she arrived.
11/22, Stood in line in front of Jimmy Fallon at EB Games on 14th street (I was there buying a headset for my boyfriend). He looked cute and was very polite to the sales woman even though she was taking forever.
Friday night Alanis show at Roseland Ballroom...my best friend and I failed to realize the Ani Difranco show had been cancelled...luckily Alanis had a show playing and some PR type man out front gave us free mezzanine seats. We're so psyched about the VIP-ish type seats that we almost missed Ryan Reynolds sit down at a table in front of us to enjoy the show. Ryan was adora-bora in a fleecy type jacket sporting lots of scruff on his face, and having an enjoyable time watching his fiance (clapping and head-bobbing included). The best part was that he was sitting with Johnny Galecki (better known as Darlene's boyfriend on Roseanne), who was keeping busy with a PDA-loving blonde...
Saw Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman going through security at JFK on Sunday 11/20. Actually, noticed her wheelie suitcase first, which was a brown Tumi with large red polka dots. Thought it was a bold choice for an adult, then realized who was pulling it. Silverman looks about 14 years old in person, was very perky and chatty with the x-ray machine guys, and had her hair up in a pony tail that was pointing in about 4 directions. Kimmel looked like he'd had a rough night and wanted to find someplace to sit down.
Thursday, Nov 17th as I wandered down 5th Ave who do I see walking towards me? Recently defrocked Chief Musketeer Michael Eisner. The man is tall! He could go ducking hunting with a tennis racket. Was wearing a really cool shearling coat and looking like he missed the balmy California weather. I wanted to offer the unemployed CEO a few bucks for the holidays, til I remembered that he probably walked away from The Mouse House with a 17 gazillion dollar severance package.
Saw Scott Speedman at Shebeen (mott st) on saturday 11/21. He sat with 2 chicks, one of whom looked very third-wheelish.
This afternoon (11/22) on a much-needed day off of work I was killing time at the Virgin Megastore Union Square when I spotted the spritely Kieran Culkin and Anna Paquin browsing next to me. They were both eating Tasti D-lite even though it was about 40 degrees outside. I first noticed them because Anna's uncombed ponytail hair caught me off-guard. But she was wearing really cute cowboy boots. Kieran was checking out "Life of Pi".
Not sure if this one counts anymore, but on 11/19 saw indie princess Chloe Sevigny hanging around the set of My Super Ex-Girlfriend on E 10th St. As I walked by I overheard her say I really want to get fucked up tonight, but I don t have any booze. Poor thing.
Saw Michael Stipe at the Spotted Pig Saturday night. Looks great in person and seemed pretty unassuming and normal — until he tried to cut in front of my friend in line for the restroom. Unsuccessful. Also spotted at the bar was omnipresent D-lister Jon Farb.
Brushed past David from Six Feet Under (Michael C. Hall) as I was entering the 1,2,3 station on 12thStreet on Saturday. Was mostly struck by his very red hair. Nevertheless, seeing David made my gay heart go all pitty pat.
Saturday night at Edgewater, NJ movie theater, 7:10 showing of "Walk the Line" — Geraldo Rivera sitting in one of the theater's four handicapped seats. Left his garbage (water bottle) behind after the movie was over.
When I got out of class last week (NYU student, but not the Ugg wearing, Motorola talking, ipod slinging type) I saw Mark Consuelos "Mr. Kelly Ripa" walking up Broadway near Houston Street around 8:30 pm Thursday night (11/17). (Is he even a celebrity?) Anyways, he was very dressed down(baggy sweatpants and a black down feather jacket, with a black cap) unshaven and smoking a cigarette. Didn't realize how petite he is. No one noticed him, or maybe cared. Despite looking like a short order cook from any NYC dinner he still was interestingly good looking.
Saturday, November 19. I was with my wife and kids at the JCrew at the Short Hills mall and in walks conservative pundit and Jon Stewart punching bag, Tucker Carlson and wife. He is quite tall and his wife looks Coulter-esque (more attractive, but just as emaciated). Here is the amusing part: he was without bowtie and wearing Birkenstocks. Yes, you heard me. Tell the boys at the Weekly Standard. And not just sandal-like Birks, but the Clogs. It was as if he thought that's what you wear in liberal Essex County. I almost threw my latte at him and ran him over with my double-stroller.
Saw Kathryn Erbe (Eames or whatever from Law and Order: Criminal Intent) in the Swiffer aisle at the Target at Atlantic center. Small, but mom-ish, was with another lady, and not, unfortunately, Vincent Donofrio.
On my way home last night I literally bumped into Lars Ulrich on 11th/Greenwich. He was making his way to the bar on the corner and talking to (I assume) his kid (does he have one?) as he said, "Did you have fun meeting Santa Claus? Yeah? Did you tell him what you want for Christmas??" He is very very short, but his dopey tone of voice was unmistakable. I feel like he kind of looks like a skinnier Mickey Boardman (and without the glasses).
Sean William Scott, with a very close crewcut and a matching beard, and wearing a black long-sleeve t-shirt, had dinner at Nobu last night with a statuesque young woman, who he completely ignored for nearly the first hour while he was on his cellphone. He might have been sitting alone, he didn't look at her the whole time he was on the telephone. When he was done with the call, they went out for a cigarette break, before returning to eat.
Spied Eliza Dushku walking solo, talking on her phone on 5th ave near 13st on Sunday around 4:30. You might remember her oscar-worthy performance as the goth cheerleader in Bring it On. She was wearing all black, no make up, and looked adorable. So what if she's b-list.
(11/20 around 5:30PM), accidentally sat down next to top model Caroline Winberg in Nolita. My friend and I were getting coffee at a smaller-than-my-studio cafe on Spring near Laffayette. Asked a girl on the sidewalk bench outside the cafe if she minded if we share the bench. Turned out to be Carloline. Looked AWESOME. Beautiful. Sweet. And dressed to the nines in Sevens, a cropped fur coat, and donning a Chloe-esque leather bag. Some people have all the luck.
Saturday night [11/19] saw gemma ward on corner of 7th ave and leroy, presumably upon her exit from misshapes. lookin' good and v. young, surrounded by a posse of seemingly older chicks.
Saw Judy Collins by herself in a booth at molyvos yesterday. Striking as always, writing in a book.
Two random sightings in one day! First, at a gallery in SoHo, none other than the Oprah-hatin' Jonathan Franzen, looking normally scruffy. He walked in with a shorter guy, looked at some art, and left. Thank goodness for the "real" photos posted of him on the web, because he looks nothing like that picture of him
on the book cover of "The Corrections". The second sighting happened later than evening - I happened to catch Markie Post of Lifetime-movies and Night Court fame crossing the street near Lincoln Center, wearing some sort of fur or faux fur. She was wrapped up in her own thoughts, and looked really good.
Spotted at Bungalow 8: A freshly slimmed-down Rocco DiSpirito celebrating his birthday (with a new victim: an unusually tall, waifish blonde in a sexy backless dress) until the wee hours of the morning (uh, get a room?).
Saw Davey Jones (yes, THE david bowie himself) around 2:30 this afternoon scooting out of deal and deluca in Soho with a little white shopping bag and hiding under a giant bright yellow baseball cap, with the rest of him ensconced in head-to-toe beige. He's maybe 5'7"—tops. Unflattering color palette made him look more skeletal than ever.
