Bugging the 'Times'
We had our own bedbug infestation about two years ago. Intern Alexis, famously, faced hers around the same time. So, while we're always glad to hear other New Yorkers being warned of the problem, we can't help wondering what made the Times decide yesterday was the right time for an article headlined, "Just Try to Sleep Tight. The Bedbugs Are Back."
They're back, are they? Yeah, we know.
We wonder if perhaps reporter Andrew Jacobs — the man behind such beautiful imagery as "[b]edbugs are back and spreading through New York City like a swarm of locusts on a lush field of wheat" — has just recently had his own unfortunate run-in.
Or else maybe he's spent two years working on that locusts simile.
