Oh, Those Were the Days

This exciting news showed up in the Cynopsis, an entertainment-trade news summary, this morning:
CBS is looking at a new project from Paramount Network Television that would feature the Reverend Al Sharpton in his own sitcom. That's right, a sitcom. According to Variety, it's called Al in the Family and will be written by Peter Ackerman with Jamie Widdoes set to direct and exec produce.
We imagine it will be a loving homage to the earlier, Norman Lear/Carroll O'Connor CBS series. Especially that famous episode in which Archie makes false charges that a gang of white men raped a young black girl and left her covered with feces, and repeatedly charges one local prosecutor with taking part, and won't apologize or admit he was wrong even after a grand jury investigation concludes the whole thing was a hoax and explicitly exonerates the prosecutor.
Yeah, that was a good one. Can't wait to see Sharpton's take on it.
