Was at Fred's @ Barney's today (12/15, 1PM) for lunch and sat next to 'The Boss', Bruce Springsteen. He was with a woman, which I am assuming was his wife. He looks very old in person and his wife seemed rather annoying. Jerry Seinfeld walks up to him and introduces himself. The Boss invited him to join them. Jerry comes back with his wife Jessica and Jerry's sister. Jerry's sister looks very much like him. Jessica on the other hand seemed very snobbish, wearing a skirt that was attempting to be high fashion, but she is very beautiful in person. Jerry was in some ugly Merrell sneaker-type shoes and classic Levi jeans.
I had dinner at Freeman's (the hipster friendly restaurant on the LES) Saturday night and saw Jude Law and Sienna Miller eating with two other friends. My friend got up the nerve to go over and say hello and then proceeded to invite him to my bday party that was happening later that night. Jude and Sienna didn't even say a word, they just stared awkwardly at my friend till he walked away. At least they knew it was my birthday right?!
In the Chelsea Passage section of Barneys on Thursday afternoon, Katie Holmes in a bright red/orange coat. She's tall and looks old for her age.
Bungalow 8 last night, (i know, i know) and leo dicaprio was there. with a posse of fatty bodygards. I hardly noticed him because i was distracted by all the hot gay cowboys who invaded the place after the Marc Jacobs party, they were the opposite of interested in me.
Went to dinner last Friday with my boyfriend and got a seat right next to Liz Taylor. And we had a better table then her! Unfortunately my seat directly faced her and I had to avoid looking too much or lose my appetite. Her face is hideous, but the body wasn't bad, at least not as fat as I assumed. She was wearing mom jeans though- yuck. Also, not sure if this really counts as as sighting, but I live in the same building as blackface jesus, so not only is he terrorizing the usual hipster spots on his scooter, he also regularly terrorizes my apartment building.
Stumbled into an unusually crowded Monday evening for Elaine's, last night, only to find out it was a wrap party for some independent sounding flick called Awake. Anycrappers, the whole cast was there including Hayden Christenson, (Anakin was constantly stepping outside for a very non-Jedi like cigarette), Sigourney Weaver (no Botox for her—-very wrinkly, but still pretty hot) and Jessica Alba (sadly her boobalinos were much smaller in real life). A hair pluggy Harvey Keitel and a what-was-she-in-again? Linda Fiorentino were also there, but IMBD claims they ain't in the flick. And, in fairness, were they to give ME a parenthetical descrip, I'm sure it'd read "(weasely, undressed guy at bar who pathetically hid behind newspaper rather than talk to anyone)".
Last night we had our company party at the Soho Grand and the whole time there was this buzz going around that Scarlett Johansson was in the suite next door to us. After the party ended I realized that I had forgotten something so I got in the elevator to go back up and who should get on right behind me but ScarJo and her two of her assitants. She was going on and on about how so and so said he really liked her new movie but looked really cute with her curly blonde hair and hot little black dress. Unfortunately there were no Josh Hartnett sightings. Then as we were gathering ourselves outside a woman turned to us and said "are you waiting for a cab?", at which point i looked at her and went "oh! you're..." but then couldn't remember her name. Turns out it was Marcia Gay Harden, one of those people whose name you probably wouldn't ever know but has been in lots of random movies (most recently and notably Mona Lisa Smile). Seeing as I never see celebs it was an exciting night overall.
My friend who lives up on 103 and lex writes this about her monday morning: I went out to get my car yesterday morning and it was gone. Towed. Eventually went to the police precinct (this is around 5am) around the corner and they told me——-after convincing them that I wasn't going to steal it if they gave me the address of where it was LIKE THAT MAKES AN IOTA OF A DIFFERENCE in terms of whether someone will steal a car——where it was.......fortunately it was ticketless. The price of towing it was on J-Lo and Marc Anthony, who were being filmed for a movie yesterday in my very bldg (hence, the towing, for the filming).
12/13: could swear I just saw the tiniest adorablest shaggy-blond-haired Owen Wilson smiling into the window of a camera and electronics store on 42nd near 5th. He was wearing a dark knit beany, jeans, and a black jacket and, truly, was the most precious little angel. Begs a number of questions, the most urgent of which is: who in his/her right mind would be anywhere near the shopping hell of 5th Ave. / 42nd this time of year unless her cruel 9-5 (er, 9-9) compelled it by means of exploitation?

As I was indulging in the buffet for my office Christmas party last Thursday at the downtown Plataforma, the buzz was all about Mariah Carey sitting at a table by the wall constantly powdering her nose and checking her makeup, as a couple of fans asked her for, and posed for, photos. It appeared as if she was finished with her meal. She was there with 2 other men, dunno who they were. She was wearing a stunning black leather skirt, with a fur shawl. Towering taller than normal, she also looked pudgier than anyone had expected. When asking our server if that was indeed her, he said, "yes, but much the much fatter version." Mariah appeared to be celebrating her Grammy nods. As she left, we yelled "Rock on Mariah!" and she waved, batted her eyes, and whispered Marilyn-Monroe-type "thank you" "thank you."
Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows, dreadlocks and big belly in full effect, cutting the buffet line and smoking American Spirits while flirting with 18-year-olds at the Dave Matthews After-Party, Saturday Night (12/11) at English is Italian in the E. 40s.
Yesterday evening making my way down from tourist infested rockefeller center, saw Joss Stone walking arm in arm with a very cute, European looking guy on 6th just above Bryant Park. Didn't think it was her at first, but as I walked by, could hear her singing softly. To tell you the truth, I don't even know one song she sings, recognized her from those Gap commercials. Very pretty and dressed funky.
Saw the ubiquitous Scott Speedman at University and 8th today. He was totally nondescript, save a bright red hood and those lovely ice-blue eyes. No one noticed him, and he walked along like any NYU kid, with a backpack on and a cell-phone glued to his ear. A cellphone which, as I turned around to see where he was going, he immediately dropped onto the pavement. Lucky for him, no damage done.
Was walking down Lafayette past that new luxury apartment building on Spring and the northbound-side of Lafayette/Cleveland Place when I noticed a black SUV idling in front of the lobby entrance. Intrigued, I scoped out the two men standing by it and found it was none other than John Mayer speaking with a handsome dred-head. Don't know what they were exchanging (I would hope demos), but John looked reasonably cute with shaggy hair reaching his chin and that lazy-eyed stare of his.
I just saw Ryan Cabrera and that unmistakeable spikey hair of his in front of Jamba Juice at 57th and 6th (12/14 around 2ish). He seemed nice but shorter than I expected. After I said hello, he put his hoodie on and hid that hair of his. Thankfully, Ashlee Simpson was nowhere in sight.
Walking down West Broadway last night, I spotted Jack White dressed like a circus freak (top hat and all), smoking a cigarette down to the butt and listening to a gold spray painted boombox on the patio of Cipriani. I could have mistaken him for a homeless man...I self-confirmed the sighting by rationalizing that Cipriani probably would not have allowed it otherwise. Looked like he scared everyone else off of the usually packed patio.
was looking through the cute clutch wallets at marc jacobs last night on mercer st when a blonde came up next to me and started reaching over me to pick up a few. i eyed a hot gunmetal one and when i turned around to show it to my husband i realized the blonde next to me was amber valetta, NOT looking her prettiest. she looked a bit ragged in a black wool coat and *gasp* ugly nike gym sneakers. her hair looked a bit fried and matted down. her face, though, was adorable. she bought a few pairs of sunglasses, an over the shoulder quilted black bag, and something else that i couldn't see.
Yesterday at 4:00, I saw Harvey Weinstein coming out of Cipriani's on 42nd Street. He was with one assistant and wasn't yelling or otherwise acting like a jerk. Also, he is quite fat- a gigantic pot belly.
She's been listed on here more than Willem Dafoe, but for what it's worth, saw Maggie Gyllenhall as we were leaving McSorley's on E. 7th standing outside an apartment building. It looked she was buying a switchblade—or maybe she was just talking on her cell phone. I think she was on her phone. Yep. Cute girl and tiny like almost everyone else you finally see outside of a magazine or a screen.
Just got back from a liquid lunch at rosa mexicano near lincoln center, where we saw none other than dan rather himself, looking oldy mcmoldy and walking down the stairs very gingerly. nothing too exciting about this, actually. what can one say about dan rather? he's old? 'nuff said.
(12/12): Alec Baldwin being interviewed and, I must admit, looking pretty darn good despite the blindingly bright TV camera light on his face — though, if pressed for two words to describe the eldest of the Baldwin bros., I'd go for contemplative and jowly. He ain't no Daniel, but he's also not at the hotness level of Billy circa 1994.
Seen, Monday, 12/12, around 10am: Former General and Presidential Candidate Wesley Clark walking out of Brasserie 8 1/2 on W. 57th St. Why couldn't he have won the election? He's smart, got the older man attractive thing going on, and nice!
i saw chelsea clinton on sunday (12/11) at the 25th annual putnam county spelling bee, seated behind me in the third row. she was with a handsome guy (definitely not ian klass) and an attractive youngish couple...her hair looked more blond than i expected and she surprisingly wasnt unattractive. no one else seemed to notice her, nor did there appear to be any SS lurking about
I saw Tony Soprano — AKA James Gandolfini Saturday night at Cookshop. He was at a table of six, including Janice Soprano. He was huger than huge and wearing light blue jeans and white sneakers.
Saw Devon Aoki walking on 24th Street near 6th Avenue talking on her phone. She looked cute in a short puffer jacket and jeans, but must have been freezing. Short girl, long legs.
This morning, 12/14, saw Naomi Campbell working out with a trainer at the Greenwich Avenue Equinox. No makeup, hair in braids, at a loss for how to use most of the equipment.
Saw lenny kravitz last night (12.13) outside of the west village d'agostino across from paris commune (greenwich st/bank, i think). at first i thought it might just be some guy channeling him hard-core, but i unnecessarily stayed on his side of the street (i needed to get home via hudson) and got the close-up of the nose ring and knew it had to be denise's ex. not as buff as i thought he might/wanted him to be. he was lighting a girl's cigarette. wish it had been weed.
I think I saw Topher Grace eating at Ollie's Noodle Shop in Times Square late last night (12/13). He was seated near the window with what looked like family and friends, talking and laughing. But why would he be eating in Ollie's Noodle Shop?
On 12/3 I was seated on the NYC to DC regional Amtrak train behind a blonde woman with curly hair who was annoyingly taking up an aisle seat, but not making the window seat available. But once I saw she was sitting across from her kids - - a 12 year old girl in bohemian chic who spent a little too much time on the cell phone, and a 16 year old goth girl with short hair and pale complexion - - I got over it. The blonde ended up stretching out and napping on the two seats for most of the ride, so I didn't pay much attention. So, as we pull into Philly, I'm coming down the aisle and my jaw drops when I realize that this blonde woman who I'd been sitting behind the whole time was actually Kyra Sedgwick! I was the only one that seemed to recongize her, and she was tiny, with her great mane of soft blond curls, wearing a black vest, oversized white t-shirt and baggy bootcut jeans, and of course, she was chewing gum (just like on "The Closer"). I heard a slight Southern drawl as she slipped on some cool rimless shades and hustled the kids off to a weekend in Philly. No Kevin Bacon in sight, but what a thrill!
Saw Carmine Gotti in Herald Square looking rediculous in a puffy, down, gleaming white coat and a matching white sweatband, perhaps to soak up the excessive gel he needs to get his hair to look as crazy as it does. He was on the short side and tanned like he just came from the tropics, natch.
While walking to the bank I almost crashed into a very old looking and droopy faced Huey Lewis coming out of The Gap on 48th and 6th yesterday (12/12). He was with a young girl who I assume is his daughter. They were smiling and seemed to be having a good time together.
