Reuters: Elton John Is Not 'An Over-the-Hill, Gay Rock Star'
Here's a nice lesson in why you must never, ever tell the truth about a bitchy queen with a good publicist. (Or: Here's a lesson in why all Hollywood journalism is inherently bullshit because it's all so publicist-mediated.)
These are the first two paragraphs of a Hollywood Reporter story that moved on the Reuters wire yesterday:
British actor Anthony Stewart Head, formerly of WB series "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," has landed the lead in "Him & Us," ABC's comedy pilot executive produced by Elton John.
The project revolves around a fictitious, popular rock star and his relationship with his long-time manager and the rest of his colorful entourage.
And this is the correction that was issued after the first version of that story:
please read "... ABC's comedy pilot executive produced by Elton John" instead of "... ABC's comedy pilot inspired by the life of Elton John."
and In paragraph 2, please read, "The project revolves around a fictitious, popular rock star..." instead of "The project revolves around an over-the-hill gay rock star..."
Hey, we'd quibble with "rock" too.
