Reese Witherspoon continues surfing the tube of good fortune: Fresh off wins at the Critics Choice, SAG and Golden Globes awards for her role as June Carter Cash in Walk the Line, not to mention a little Oscar nomination to call her own, comes news that the kiddie-pummeling paparazzo who ambushed her daughter's birthday party at the Happiest Place on Earth was found dead in his Brentwood apartment:

A paparazzo who was charged with battery and child endangerment after pestering Reese Witherspoon and her kids at a theme park last fall has apparently been found dead.

Friends of photographer Todd Wallace said his body was discovered in his Brentwood apartment, according to published reports. Police confirmed that a body was found, but were unable to identify it as Wallace's because of the state of the corpse.

Sadly, the Great Celebrity Paparazzi War has its first casualty. Forgive us for a moment if we must parrot the stubbornly steadfast sensibilities of our nation's fearless leader, but we cannot let this tragedy avert us from our course, not until we have established some form of stability in the lawless, fuzzy regions occupied by our stars and their camera-toting antagonists. If for nothing else, we owe it to the international celebrities of the world, who look to us as their guiding beacon, to show them the way.
