Gawker Stalker: Brandon Davis Loves the Snow
Sightings are sent in by readers on hallucinogens. Send yours to tips@gawker.com.
In this muddy-shoes edition of the Stalk: Brandon Davis, Colin Farrell, Liam Neeson, Liv Tyler, Kristen Davis, Nick Lachey, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson, Benipcio del Toro, Rosie Perez, Janeane Garofalo, Tommy and Ally Hilfiger, Chloe Sevigny, Peter Sarsgaard, James Gandolfini, Jared Leto, Petra Nemcova, Hilary Duff and Joel Madden, Jessica Lange and Sam Shepard, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, Eric Balfour, Suge Knight, Lisa Loeb, Mary Stuart Masterson, Eli Manning, Candice Bergen, and Paul Shaffer.
I saw Brandon Davis Saturday 2/11 at Bungalow 8 around 3am coming out of the bathroom sniffing, and wiping his nose...guess he must have had a "cold" or something. Way too obvious and very greasy looking—his hair is oil slick shiny.
Ended up in the same elevator with Colin Farrell at Barneys this Saturday (Feb. 11th). He was with a couple of scruffy looking guys I didn't recognize and they were going up to the 9th floor restaurant for lunch, I presume.
Monday morning while the city was digging out from 26" of snow, Liam Neeson was standing like a statue in the bright sun at the corner of 11th and 5th Ave. He was wearing a brown corduroy suit and sunglasses and standing at the top of the steps of the beautiful building on the Northeast corner. His shiny black SUV with driver was parked at the curb. The building is used in tons of movies and TV shows so maybe Liam will be filming there. Or maybe he and Natasha are moving downtown. Holly Hunter just bought Julia Roberts' apartment in the same building so there should be no concern about its celebrity cache.
Yesterday (2/13) the Monday morning after the blizzard on my way to the 4/5/6 at Union Square, who do I see girly-stepping over the wet and dirty slush but the pure as snow Liv Tyler? This is the fourth time I've seen her between NYC and LA and she always looks so cute. Then, this morning (2/14), who is sitting across from me on the 5 from Union Square to Grand Central but one Charlotte York Goldenblatt (aka Kristen Davis) reading her newspapers and being totally normal. She was wearing jeans, a normal jacket, and was actually pulling off wearing a beret. In my morning haze I was totally staring at her and she didn't even give me the celeb stare back; she could teach the Red Terror (Cynthia Nixon) a thing or two about behaving in public. What ties my two sightings together besides snow trudgery? These two ladies are always "applauded" in the tabloids for being so comfortable with their "healthy" (read: fat) bodies and, in person, are so tiny tiny and thin...
I was walking in front of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Friday, 4:45pm, and I stumbled on Nick Lachey. He seemed a bit confused getting into the Hotel as he tried to enter in one of the silver doors closest to the Equinox. By no surprise he was short, hair disheveled, and his face was broken out of acne. I guess he forgot his Cover-up . Otherwise, he is a nice looking fellow and of course, he was with a chick with long dark hair that was just as confused
Friday (2/10) literally ran into Jonathan Rhys Meyers crossing the street at 55th and 7th. Sexily clad in well fitted jeans and a ratty yet ok-if-he s-wearing-it green hoody. Looked very determined to get where he was going, almost model-like in an I m very intense and very hot kind of way. Immediately recognizable, and I believe I did get a half-smile out of him, that was until my partner-in-crime practically stopped in the middle of the intersection to gawk. 20 minutes later, we were still talking about how amazingly good he looked.
I saw Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson at Anthropology in SoHo on Sunday, the 13th. I was one of 4 people who were shopping there in spite of the weather and I'm pretty sure that we all left the store feeling that it was well worth the effort. She was browsing their home section and I think intent on buying a wooden side table. No baby in sight. They actually seemed as cute in person as they come across through interviews. He was stationed in a chair for most of the time and at one point she sweetly asked, "Chris, honey, can you come here and look at this?" He scurried right over to help her. They were dressed like homeless people, but weren't we all that day?
I was in New York on a business trip last week and on Friday Feb 10th I was standing on one of the corners of Bleecker and McDougal waiting for a co-worker to pick me up when something caught my eye. It was Benicio del Toro, and I swear he was looking at my butt! When he saw I noticed he quickly looked the other way. I wonder what he thought of it! He wasn't alone but I couldn't see who was with him
Rosie Perez at Blue Ribbon in Brooklyn, with friend in a booth by the bar. They seemed very agitated about people "staring" and I was trying to figure out if they thought it was my party being creepy. We were aggressively hassling the host to seat us in under an hour and barely noticed whose table we were wedged up against (until my boyfriend began squealing "Biwwy!" well within earshot...yep, I've got a classy one!) Whatever she was pissed about worked in our favor, as she was moved to the back of the restaurant and we got the booth. Thanks, Rosie!
This might be coming a little late, but I saw Janeane Garofalo at Mona's on Avenue B and 13th Street Friday night. She walked in, some girls who were fans chatted her up. Then she sat at the end of the bar chatting up one of the bartenders, and quickly left without having a drink.
Was at The Hog Pit (2-10) and Tommy Hilfiger was there, drinking a traditional martini (which in that place is just weird). His daughter Ally of reality show fame also showed and, at one point, turned to smile at my male friend. Her dad then did the same.
Saw Chloe Sevigny at Cafe Mogador Thurs. night (2/9), waiting for a table with her boyfriend in the entry way. She was admirably, but obviously, supressing full movie-star rage at having to wait. She was wearing a long dark coat and looked more beautiful that us ual with her hair parted in the middle and falling in soft waves around her face.
2/11 Peter Sarsgaard at the Sam Winch/Mark McAdam show at the Parkside. No Maggie, no Jake, but damn that guy exudes sex.
James Gandolfini sledding with his (wife? 4 Illegitimate children?) on the hills of Central Park, 79th Street on the east side on Sunday. Instead of taking out Mob rats, he was taking out unsuspecting kids with his runway sled.
Was just about to leave Crunch gym on Lafayette when my roommate and I spotted a chubby Jared Leto working out with a trainer. Looked like we were the only ones that recognized him under those 20 lbs he's put on for his new role. I did my gawker stalking duty and stuck around for a couple more reps . From my brief observations of his training sessions, he seemed fairly normal and not obnoxious. Hopefully those sessions at Crunch will get him back to his hot Alexander figure sans eyeliner. And I'm sure I'll be much more motivated to go the gym now..
Tuesday night, I ended up at the communal table at Morimoto sitting right by Petra Nemcova. She is gorgeous, sweet, friendly and incredibly well-mannered. She came over and kneeled right by me to talk to the people sitting immediately to my right. She was discussing how she doesn't drink at all, but on very special occasions she will have a small cocktail. She really likes slippery nipples (the drink)... seriously. We chatted a bit because I had met her at a party a week earlier. She kisses on the cheek three times.
Saw Hilary Duff and Joel Madden wandering aimlessly around meatpacking on Sunday, in the snow, in stiletto boots (Hillary not Joel), looking for an open store to spend money at while carrying around a Jeffrey bag (Jeffrey was closed this past Sunday). When realizing no place would open even for them, the two serious musicians who were front row at the Anna Sui show last week instead of being at the Grammy's (I've seen too much of this dynamic duo lately), sulked off to the Gansevoort hotel.
Saw Jessica Lange and Sam Shepard in the Village, Misha-lunching with Baryshnikov. Must be old family friends. Baryshnikov was with his two grown children, maybe they were his daughter and son-in-law, but the girl had her baby in tow—a very cute one less than 2 years old, wandering around the place.
On Friday after work we were about to cross the street when a woman in a fur coat and sweat pants ran out in front of traffic, chased by her male companion. We made eye contact and he sort of made that "she's crazy" mile before I realized it was Kurt Russell trying to keep Goldie Hawn from losing her legs to the treads of a yellow cab.
Slumming it in coach with me on tonight's United redeye from LAX to Newark: Six Feet Under hottie Eric Balfour (very very nice to a woman who apologized after realizing she was blocking the aisle, although wearing one of those retarded Bluetooth headsets) and Suge Knight. Yes, the Suge Knight. In coach. He limped as he got off the plane - perhaps still hurting from shooting himself in the leg at Kanye West's VMA party in August?
A little past midnight I saw #1 Single Lisa Loeb crossing the street at 23rd and 6th. She was heading downtown. Looks exactly as she does on tv—no cameras in sight.
Last night (Sunday, 2/12) I braved the blizzard to catch Manhattan Theatre Club's Defiance at City Center. It was totally worth the trek through the tundra because the play was amazing and Mary Stuart Masterson was in the audience. She was pretty noticable in the theatre, dressed completely in white and radiant, sitting with her younger and very cute boyfriend. She must have known some people in the cast because she also came to the nightcap afterwards at Carnegie Club and was so gracious when my friend spazzed out and raved about her performance in Fried Green Tomatoes. Love!
Eli Manning at Level V Friday night, 2/10. Standing dorkily against a wall with a bimbo-type blonde on his arm. He looked like he would be more comfortable at a chess tournament, but alas, the price of fame. It begs two questions: 1) Does that jersey (and a few million) really make him more attractive? and 2) Where was Jesse Palmer?
Husbands supposedly take their doxies to a romantic dinner on 2/13 and their wives on 2/14, but philanthropist Marshall Rose was with Candice Bergen at Gabriel's the night before Valentine's Day.
As I was poking around in Bloomingdale's on Saturday the 11th, I suddenly realized how late it was (7PM) and that I needed to make a mad dash to the pet supply store before it closed (or my kitten would be faced with an empty bowl). I jumped in a cab, flew across town and over to my favorite pet supply shop, Furry Paws on Amsterdam Avenue, right behind Lincoln Center. I made it with some time to spare, so I worked my way through the aisles, looking for the stuff I needed, when I stumbled across a very sweet and curious dog who was pulling on his leash to get closer to me for a pat on the head and an ear scratching. I moved closer and obliged this adorable dog, looking up to compliment the person on the other end of the leash. As I was lifting my head and just starting to say, "what a lovely puppy you have" realized it was Paul Shaffer glaring at me. He ignored me completely and walked away, pulling his dog behind him, leaving me thinking, "you hideous little man" and "what a pompous prick." His dog was super sweet, though. Don't you just hate D-list personalities who behave like such snots?
