'Times' Guy Ganks Jacobs' Shtick, Presumably in Compliance With New Keller Guidelines
From today's Publishers Lunch deal roundup:
New York Times city editor Wendell Jamieson's FATHER KNOWS LESS, based on an article he wrote for the paper [on] the story of one father's obsessive mission to provide answers to his young son's persistent questions about the world around him, and the funny and odd places this quest takes them both, to Dan Conaway at Putnam and John Duff at Perigee, at auction, by Jay Mandel at William Morris Agency (NA).
Congratulations to Jamieson on successfully fulfilling "the yearning of Times staffers to put their wisdom between hard covers," which Bill Keller recently reported has become a "tidal surge" within the newsroom. We just hope — oh, do we hope — the budding author remembered to pay attention to Keller's three simple rules for writing a Times-staffer book. Also, we hope he's ready for his inevitable faceoff with A.J. Jacobs, who's got to be pissed someone else got in on his watch-me-as-I-fulfill-a-ridiculous-quest franchise.
