This morning (Friday 3/10) I was at 71 Irving, standing on line and staring at a woman ahead of me with the stupidest pigtails and headband combo. The elastic headband was making the pigtails do this up-and-out thing so the back of her head resembled a huge ass, what with the part down the middle and all. Anyway, she pays and turns and
it's Uma Thurman. Caught gawking (but at her awful 'do, not at her celebrity) I looked away, but not before I saw brand-new ex-flame Andre Balazs just yonder. They remain "close friends", indeed. It was not yet 9 a.m. and she looked like they had just rolled out of bed. Anyway, they sat at a table and he petted her leg like a boyscout trying to start a fire. She was not having it, looking distracted. She scoped me out head-to-toe and then stared at my shoes for a long time, which made my day.
Saw Lenny Kravitz last night at Mr. Chows. When he arrived they immediately took him to the VIP table, the one that overlooks the main dining room. The funny thing was how many layers of dead animal Lenny wears. Before sitting he removed a sheep skin blanket, followed by another thick leather layer, and another. He must have been wearing five layers of sheep and cow. It was quite a sight. He dropped all the layers to the ground, and a young woman was there to collect and bring them all to coat check.
Had the best lunch ever today! Whilst perusing the overpriced shrimp cocktail at Balducci s (w 66th), a co-worker and cohort pointed out that the disheveled man next to me looked familiar. I turned to find Mark Eternal Sunshine Ruffalo also browsing the assorted prepackaged salads. In usual fashion, I freaked, turned red, and managed to smile and say hi as he walked passed. What brain tumor? That man has a gorgeous thick lush head of hair of which he doesn t seem to worry about managing . Good for him. I continued to stalk him from behind the vodka sauce until I took a camera phone pic of him on the checkout line. Classy. Then, on my way back to the office, basking in my almost A-list glow, I saw none other than that crazy Love Monkey Tom Cavanaugh. With a guitar case, tall and skinny, I flashed him the biggest smile I could muster. He smiled back as we passed each other. I am not attracted to his scrawny in any way, but still, it felt good to have some composure in clearly very trying times. And the fact that I am still not over this whole thing 4.5 hours later proves that I am, in fact, 26 going on Loser.
At the Saturday evening (3/11) performance of "Hedda Gabler," spotted a patchy stubbled Keanu Reeves, there in a show of support for his "Matrix" buddy, Hugo Weaving. He was dressed in black and wore a green scarf, which he kept on during the entire performance (hiding a rash?). In true New York fashion, everyone seated around him tried their best to pretend he wasn't there.
Spotted Willem Dafoe and a guy in his early twenties (probably his son) at the Whitney Biennial on Sunday (3/13) at around 3pm. He was wearing a nondescript dark blue trench coat and he's definitely short in person. He looked extremely goofy with his obviously dyed hair and his classic smirk. For most of the time, he didn't even appear to be looking at the art (though his son seemed intrigued. He just stood in the middle of the galleries trying to get noticed. Made eye contact with him a couple times and he definitely must be still channeling his role as the Green Goblin because man is he creepy.
Bill Paxton took in the Edward Munch exhibit at the MoMA on Monday (March 6) afternoon at about 3:00 p.m. He stopped to buy a Munch print in the gift shop afterward and was recognized by the cashier. He was very cordial with her and talked about his upcoming HBO series. Nice guy.
Saw Harvey Weinstein at Spamalot with a girl young enough to be his daughter (I was a few rows ahead I might add). I would have figured that after "Brothers Grimm" he'd have had enough of seeing Terry Gilliam's hard work dumbed down and defiled. Also in attendance was a dressed down but still gorgeous Kate Winslet...no sign of her MOR director hubby or progeny, though.
Just thought it was funny that I saw last night Jonathan Rhys-Meyers at Bungalow 8 with the same Asian girl he was at the Hell's Kitchen Mexican restaurant you just mention on your stalker report....they were sitting down in a big table but both of them were giving their backs to the people there, after a bit of people watching they left together around 2am
Wed. Mar. 8-the lobby of the Harvey Theater at BAM in downtown Brooklyn-Jessica Lange walked by me en route to attend the 7:30 Hedda Gabler performance with Cate Blanchett. Sam Shepard's lady love looked astonishingly good. I had always heard that she mutilated her face with plastic surgery but after my first close up/run in with one of the King Kong paramours I can safely say the woman has aged gracefully. She was also taller than I thought. Blanchett, Hugo Weaving et al were outstanding btw!
Saw Michel Gondry at the b-side bar on avenue b and 12th street last night (Wednesday). He was at the bar using his laptop to DJ. He played a lot of Michael Jackson, from what I remember.
Spotted Wednesday night, March 8th at Brasserie 8 1/2 on 57th street, Paul Sorvino having dinner with Mira Sorvino and her husband. Paul sat down about 30 minutes before Mira did, looked to have a couple drinks before she showed up. Paul not looking so good, jeans hiked way up and rather large belly.
3/08/06 3:30am I was wasted with my friend last night so we left the Beauty Bar and proceeded to the pizza place down the road next to P.C. Richards. After asking the workers if we could wear paper hats too while eating our pizza (they obliged!) who walks in with a hot blonde girl but Jimmy Fallon! As we were leaving I was talking to the workers and to Jimmy's hot gf and she was super cool and asking about our paper hats, though she didn't want to wear one. Jimmy looked on in that classic sheepish way and stared at the ground.
I passed Erika Christensen (who I thought gave a really good performance in "The Upside of Anger") on lower Fifth Ave. Her hair was dyed an amber color and she was wearing white jeans, gabbing away on her cell phone. She's much shorter than I had envisioned.
Friday night at Nobu 57: Howard Stern sharing sushi with his daughter, while nearby, Rosie O'Donnell got sloshed with Elvis Duran. Even though Howard hates Rosie, no fish was catapulted.
Saw Alec Baldwin and Nicole Seidel last night having a romantic dinner for two (during the Oscars and missing the broadcast!) at Da Silvano downtown on Sixth Ave. They looked all gooey and happy...it was actually quite cute.
Oliver Platt at the corner of 12th Street and 5th Ave on Sunday afternoon. He's the size of a small car standing upright on its back two wheels. Two normal sized kids, presumably his, were with him.
Shared an after-lunch elevator on 3/7/06 at Civil Court, 111 Centre St, Manhattan with a casually dressed Anthony Edwards and fellow jury duty recruits. He politely listened to others tell their stories why they couldn't serve on jury duty before mentioning to one woman that he would have gladly served, but was told that he could leave.
Literary Wunderkind Jonathan Safran Foer during intermission of Hedda Gabler. Did not see his lovely wife or fellow literary wunderkind Nicol Krauss. He seemed to be with some older family members.
This afternoon at Cafe Habana, while waiting for a table, saw Karolina Kurkova walk by with her boyfriend. Presumably going home, as I know she lives in the neighborhood. About an hour later, while going back for some plastic utensils at the takeout portion, saw Margherita Missoni perched on one of the wooden tree/bench things being photographed for something or other. She was all tan and Italian and gorgeous. She was accompanied by a mini posse of overly styled publicist types.
My girlfriend saw Sarah Jessica Parker at a magazine stand (reading Home & Garden) in the international terminal at JFK (sans Matthew and baby) looking dapper with nice but tiny green shoes and a big skirt. No J-LO jumpsuit here. No indication on where SJP was headed.
3/10 just saw Kelly Osborne stomping through the lobby of my building (empire state building) in full on bitch mode. I saw this girl walking towards me loudly chewing her gum with platinum blonde hair and made up face and realized it was none other than one of Ozzie s spawn. She was pretty, had great porcelain skin and looks skinnier than she does in pictures. I wonder where the hell she was going.
On 14th St, between 2nd and 3rd Ave: Dustin Hoffman with a pretty, young brunette who must be his daughter.
Was at Kleinfelds this weekend trying on wedding stuff and saw Kelly Ripa. Her face was yellow like jaundice, not a spec of makeup. She is 85 lbs top and looks severely malnourished the size of her legs was like a normal woman s forearm.
Last night in the east village: Denis Leary, filming something on Second Avenue around 6th street. He was sitting in a director's chair outside Balucchi's and he looked very skinny, his skin was taught around his face like Skeletor. Then, I sat right next to John Norris (who was dining solo) at Sea Thai on Second Avenue and 4th street. he was wearing an NYU hooded sweatshirt and a winter hat while eating. He was reading the New York Times and when he dropped a section, I picked it up for him he was funny about it: "I'm just dropping things all over the place, aren't I?!" When I was picking up his newspaper i noticed that he has really, alarmingly big feet like a size 13.
Seen at the 2nd Ave Tasti-D: a graying Crow ordering a dainty cup of non-ice-cream. When asked if he was, in fact, the leader of the Counting Crows, Adam Duritz replied: I suppose I am. We love the guy, and we love Tasti-D. We just never thought birds
worried about winter weight.
I was having lunch with friends at Le Bonne Soupe on 55th yesterday (3-9) when my friend turned to me and said, "Isn't that guy famous?" Sure enough it was LA Law's Corbin Bernsen coming in right behind us. I was so busy trying to absorb as many details as possible for my stawker report that it took me a moment to realize his seatmate was Michael Tucker, fellow LA Law colleague. They have aged a bit. Michael looks like your kindly little leprechaun uncle. Corbin needs to drop out of the George Hamilton school of old man tanning...it is making him look a little leathery. Despite that, he looked pretty good in tight jeans, trim body, shaved head with Bruce Willis fuzz....a little rough around the edges in a sexy aging hunk way. They were both low key, nondemanding and expected no fawning...they were just two nice guys having a quiet lunch.
On Monday (6 March) I went to see TSOTSI at Angelika. As we exited the theater into the downstairs lobby, I spotted Chris Parnell of SNL/"Lazy Sunday" fame. He was wearing a plaid shirt and jeans, and was very short, and slight. He walked shyly toward the soda dispenser with an Angelika cup in hand. He didn t have any Mr. Pibb's or Red Vines.
I was busy stuffing mouthfuls of delish frittata into my mouth at Chelsea Market today, 3/12/06...11:50-ish, when 5 feet away, my eyes met Bradley Cooper's for a split second. I almost choked on my frittata!! Will Tippin and Jack Bourdain in the flesh! Earlier that morning back at my apartment, I was just discussing him and his new Broadway play with roomie and 5 hours later, we are breathing the same air? He looked great, but looks better on TV than he does in person. He had on these large earphones, a black puffy jacket and backpack. I would like to say he wore a track pants but I am not sure so I am not saying it.
Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel, bundled up for the rainy weather in line at the Bagel Shoppe on the corner of 74th and 2nd. Got muffins and headed west on 74th.
May not have picked her out of the crowd on her own, but he's impossible to miss.
Just in time for the Sopranos premiere tonight, Fri afternoon (3/10) saw Furio from the Sopranos (had to check his real name Federico Castelluccio) walking with some other dude on 3rd and 43rd. Spotted him immediately, even though he was sans ponytail; he was wearing a leather jacket and blue tinted shades, and is really tall and handsome. I started grinning like a f-ing circus clown and said hi, and he smiled back and acknowledged me by nodding. I am glad he didn't speak, because I love his accent on the show and he doesn't really talk like that.
I saw Tim Curry on E. 77th Street walking towards the 6 Train around 6pm on 3/6.
Niles Crane himself, David Hyde Pierce, gave me the once-over on Eighth Avenue in the mid-40s Thursday evening. We were coming toward each other on the street to avoid the pedestrian throngs (read: tourists), and that's when I noticed he had "the sparkle."
SNL's Horatio Sanz was sitting at the bar at Peter McManus Cafe in Chelsea, about 11pm on Thursday night, knocking down a couple of brews. Then he went outside and chatted up an attractive blonde with two dogs. It was unclear whether he knew her or not.
Saw Tatum O'Neal last night (3/9) around 10 p.m. entering Veselka in the East Village with a short and rotund man.
[Ed: And now, back by popular demand, the stalker stylings of Crazy Stalker, nee The Earl Grey. As always, presented in full so as to maximize your anguish.]
Friday march 10, 2006. 4:40 pm. 3rd ave betw 70th/71st st. right in front of Tasti Delite/Baci caf : Lauren Dupont breezes by me chatting fervently on her cell phone. she's about 5'6" give or take. for a vogue contributor & in-demand nyc social, her garb was fairly disappointing. long black wool cardigan sweater/jacket, almost to her knee, unbuttoned & flapping open around her. black tee shirt, looking pretty worn in & slightly faded. blue jeans medium blue, but cut so full they actually looked like overalls cut, ridiculously wide legged. she had sunglasses pulled back on her head pulling her hair off her face. her hair was pretty messy, in fact the best adjective is 'splayed' her hair actually shot back in new wave/near-rasta plaits being held back by her glasses, shooting off her head, although her hair isnt particularly long, in kandinsky-like medium blonde geometrics. i would say she is a natural blonde, although her medium to darker blonde natural hair has definitely been lightened several steps. oh on her black tee shirt she had quite a bit of silver & beaded jewelry, chains & pendants, necklaces looking very santa fe, NM, i was not too impressed with the silver beaded jewelry, but then again it wasnt as ostentations, heavy, and golden as all the older women's jewelry i was noticing as i passed by graces marketplace and then outside state news this afternoon. [issue 10 of 'another magazine' is great, don t miss anouck in 80s workout garb and stam & britni in LA by stephen shore.]. the way these older women get all dressed up & gab outside grace's- really. lauren's silver/beaded jewely seemed to be a nod to the peasant/bohemian trend that vogue has been pushing pretty hard for about 2 years. honestly I think the peasant thing works much better in LA [as it evokes the 1970 LA free-spirit era] and maybe on the east end of LI with a crisp pair of new white jeans. but i was not loving laurens silver peasant jewelry necklaces against the mottled black tee. i know its like crazy hot today in nyc, feels like 70 not 60, but still her black large winter cardigan coat & black tee + huge full jean legs was not a winner, too much 'barbra streisand picking through the dessert baskets at E.A.T.'' for me. she is pretty cute, definitely naturally pretty, and she had on almost no make up at all. If anything she had a little bit of eyeliner & a touch of mascara. her face otherwise & especially her lips appeared completely free of make up. Her lips looked really thin without lipstick. scientifically, I would peg her age at approx 35. I think she has 1 or 2 kids? is her hubby richard [?] alleged to be a sculptor? {hey whatever happened to justin portman's sculpting career? oh these vogue society girls/models with their talented sculptor hubbies! ummm??} in her stylized vogue 'shopping' pics I think lauren looks more like 28-30. so as cute as she did appear today, in person shes several years beyond her perfected image in vogue. also she was gabbing away so excitedly and lustily on the cel phone- never a good look- that her mouth was open really wide & twisting & it just wasnt the composed pristine connecticut-looking glamour contributor that was so cute in several vogue shopping stories. [to date her most notorious writing in vogue was when she bragged 'I have only been to brooklyn once or twice in my life' - that makes 2 of us Lorny! actually I think she amended that in a later piece to say 'now I get to BK once or twice a year.' well you can show ME around then, honey!!]. her skin was good though, very smooth, i would guess she may have just come from the gym or something cos she had no make up on & was dressed really sloppy compared to what i might expect. even with only minimal make up her eyes were nice though. a lighter blue than i expected. also her skin tone was smooth & actually a tiny bit tanned. i wonder if she caught some sun somewhere last month or recently? she seemed to have a slight brown tone to her skin which worked nicely with her light blue eyes even though no make up on. gabbing away on your cel is never a good look, it reminds me of an afternoon about a year ago when i passed by cafe nosidam on madison & theres rena sindi holding court at a sidewalk table, cigarette clutched betwixt manicured fingers and gesticulating wildly with her other hand, telling some loud & bawdy story, more robert shaw than padma lakshmi, just the complete opposite of the decorous, civilized rena sindi you imagine from pictures and various party 'how-to's.' lauren dupont was definitely dressed down & woking that cel phone this afternoon, way too hot in nyc. loved her peachy omplexion & cute chipmonk cheekbones & nice blonde shade on the splayed hite-rasta hair. Welcome to Brooklyn. out in the streets they call it Murder!
