Saw Gwyneth Paltrow coming out of FAO Schwartz with her mama (Blythe Danner) and Apple in stroller. Looks heavily pregnant now. Had a Burberry umbrella, and was very gracious to the guy who held the door open for her. Almost no makeup, but seemed in a great mood.
11:00 PM Alexandria Hotel W72 st/Broadway: Saw Drew Barrymore and her boyfriend from the Strokes sitting down between takes in the lobby of the hotel. Drew was wearing a long blue winter jacket and she was hugging her boyfriend and gave him a peck on the cheek. Supposedly filming a movie with Hugh Grant.
On my way home (7:30-8 pm?) I saw Joaquin Phoenix standing in front of that heinous fake-Brit place POP on 12th & 4th. He was wearing a big grey hoodie & trying to light a smoke. Almost didn't notice him but he looked up (I blame my tight pink PETA shirt). Some big guy was looming and trying to help him light the cigarette. Nice eyes, chubby face, messy hair, messy clothes. Short but pretty cute, except for that desperate smoker look.
East 5th Street and Avenue B- Lavagna Restaurant- around 9 PM, Jack Black came in with a party of about 8 or 10 for what looked like a celebratory dinner of sorts. He seemed very happy, laughing and toasting with him dinner companions.
Saw Jack White at corner of Stanton & Allen in front of Epstein's Bar Sunday night around 9:40pm. My friend and I were talking and then he looked up and Senior White and his hombres were right in front of us heading west. My friend: "...blah, blah, blah...hey Jack White." [with Jack with in strumming distance] Jack White: "hey." Jack wasn't wearing red or white and therefore in chameleon mode. No Meg or Wife White in tow. Jack then correctly checked for rampant cabbies and cautiously crossed Allen Street and headed north.
Were at Sweet n Vicious in Soho tonight. Jack White was there when I got there (12ish) and left soon after Dave Cross arrived. Didn't talk to Jena Malone, but David was so nice. No negative at all (bad sweater, but hey...). My buddy bought him (and most the bar) a shot and he was sincerely grateful. I think it was his birthday. Unfortunately, I cheesed out and went over and shook his hand before I left, but again, he was totally nice.
Today around 9:20 am, I saw Sarah Jessica Parker walking on W.4 near Perry. Her hair was long and loose, but she was dressed in rich people's sweats with sunglasses and Uggs (still?!). She was smiling. A few minutes later, I hit W.4 and Horatio and saw Malcolm Gladwell leaving a coffee shop called 'S Nice. His 'fro is so long, and it was blowing in the wind.
I saw Claire Danes at Shea Stadium attending Mets Home Opener and was sitting in Field level seats with her brother. She was jumping up and down when David Wright hit a home run.
Just spotted Pierce Bronson in Sturbridge Village, walking with an older couple who had a dachshund. They had cookies from the bakery, and I think lemonade. He doesn't look as hot in a polo and khaki's as he did as 007.
At about 3:30 PM I saw Mandy Moore and a large black guy (maybe a bodyguard) getting picked up by a young-ish guy in a Mercedes outside The Carlyle. A very friendly kiss hello was given to the driver.
Yesterday at about 6:15pm I was standing outside of Blue Water Grill waiting on a friend for dinner when who exited Coffee Shop, conveniently located across the street? None other than one Mr. Axl "I can't get rid of the facackta dreads" Rose, looking typically post GNR nasty. He was with two over dressed hooker like chicks, one with an accent, and some other randoms including a guy who kinda' looked like Alan Cumming who was wandering the street around there dancing to his iPod. When I met him in 1991 I was in love and in awe. This time I kept my distance and was gawking at how he's taken a turn for the worse. Axl and one of the chickies left in a black Lexus SUV.
Just saw a very pregnant and magnificent looking Brooke Shields with daughter Rowan on Madison and 75th walking out of a children's boutique. Brooke looked like she was about to go any second. Rowan was as beautiful as mommy, when mommy was that age, as I can only imagine....\
Thandie Newton & Nicole Kidman having lunch at Pastis. Both look smashing, and were clearly having a good time. They were friendly.
This isn't a real celebrity sighting but I just saw Rachel Ray smoking a cigarette near the Mesa Grill on Fifth. She was wee, nice skin and thank god she got rid of that horrific brassy blondish hair.
So last night 4/4/06 I went to see "Three Days of Rain" starring Julia Roberts, Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper. I was hoping I would see George Clooney so I could take a picture and win the Solaris DVD, but unfortunately he was not there. However I did have a few sightings-Chelsea Clinton and her bf, he was really sweet and rubbing her back throughout intermission. She seemed really down to earth and I felt bad as everyone was trying not to stare at her. Then Anna Wintour was there with Bee, but I saw her yawn while walking out at intermission and never came back...and she was sitting right in the front! Afterwards we went to a party and Paul Rudd and Bradley Cooper showed up, Paul looked adorable and was super sweet when I talked to him while Bradley Cooper thought he was hot shit and just piled it on at the buffet line...don't you have to be famous to give attitude?
I just saw a salt and pepper haired Alec Baldwin at 1p.m in the Starbucks at Columbus Circle. He was with a young girl I assume is his daughter and he had a thirty something Asian woman on his arm. They all looked completely normal.
Saturday night (4/1) at Striphouse steakhouse, spotted Will Arnett and Amy Poehler happily double dating with another couple.
Wednesday (4/5) afternoon, while stocking up on the addictive turkey chili at Balducci's on the UWS, see a dude in a black sweatshirt craning around for some soup. I turn around and realize it's David Schwimmer. He looked kind of like he just rolled out of bed, but whatever. He was there with another guy stocking up on provisions—I caught him again in the checkout line and saw some corn chips in his cart, but I couldn't make out the other purchases.
Just after 2pm, I saw John Leguizamo riding his bike (at least I assume it was his) the wrong way down 32nd street towards Madison Square Garden. Wasn't wearing a helmet. For shame, for shame.
April 5, about 6 pm - A friend and I are sitting at the bar at Gabriel's on W60th, enjoying an early cocktail and watching the early-bird bluehairs walk in. In walks Robin Williams, who says hi to the bartender and the host and sits right next to us. We said cheers and he returned the smile. He looked like he needed a quiet moment with his Patron tequila, but the host kept gabbing him up. The weird red-hair rumors are true - and he looked kinda sad. After his one drink, he packed up, said goodbye to the host and walked out.
Robin Williams and Keri Russell filming in Washington Square Park. Saw them on my way to class. Later on my walk home met Jonathan Rhys Meyers and chatted with him for about 5 min. very sweet and humble. This was around 4:00 - might still be filming now.
Michael Imperioli (Crist-tuh-fuh) with a short blonde woman, going into the Daryl Roth Theater on 15th St. and Union Square East @7pm for the opening of Sandra Bernhard's one-woman-show.
At 9.30am today at the victory cafe in Brooklyn (state and hoyt), Michelle was outside with baby Matilda in her bugaboo carriage; Heath was inside ordering drinks. Of course, some random boerum hill stalker was chatting up Michele, who was very cordial, smiling and chatting back.
Saturday afternoon, I saw bony-bonsard Nicole Kidman (with Keith Urban) walking out of Zach Feuer Gallery and right into a black Lexus SUV doubleparked on 24th Street.
Saw a very good-looking Ed Helms lunching at El Centro today. He was sitting at a corner table with a cute redhead.
On Saturday afternoon in Nolita, ran into John Allen Nelson, AKA Walt Cummings of 24 fame with an attractive lady friend. He looked and acted in a fairly normal fashion and wasn't a crazy midget like Kiefer Sutherland, so there's a bonus point for him.
I saw Jon Stewart, wife and babies at Bubby's at 3:30 on Sunday. His gray hair usually makes him look older and more scraggly, but this day he had on a baseball cap and looked fresh-faced, proving he still tops my list of dream men (I'm Jewish). But he had his admirably normal-looking wife with him, and that marriage ain't breaking up anytime soon. They sat in a closed-off section of the dining room by the bathrooms and nobody bothered them.
Was walking south along the Hudson Park path on Friday when I saw a gorgeous man jogging & pushing a stroller. I thought, "Of course all the hot guys are married," when I realized it was Ed Burns. He wasn't dressed to run (jeans, blazer, oxford) but his adorable daughter was screaming with delight. They crossed the West End Highway to Harrison St. in Tribeca. Off to pick up mommie Christy Turlington or to visit Gwyneth Paltrow & Chris Martin who live around there?
On Saturday (4/1) I went to an 8:05 showing of the Inside Man at the Clearview 1st and 62nd Theater with my ma. Walking there we passed a slightly hunched-over James Lipton in a black trench coat. I was pretty surprised to see him again ten minutes later, this time sitting down next to my mother at the theater. He was looking kinda spaced out and according to my mom he was "hogging the armrest." Couldn't tell if he enjoyed the movie because he kept the same "where am I and what am I doing here" look on his face whenever I peeked over at him.
Saw Kate Hudson on the corner of king st and varick. Was with hubby kids and one other man. She was wearing sunglasses, trench coat and a big smile.
Yesterday, a day so lovely it was made for stalking, saw Karolina Kurkova on Mott b/t Prince/Spring. Not a big sighting, but one word: unfair. Then in La Labo on Elizabeth saw Ludivine Sagnier (Swimming Pool), who was not only incredibly beautiful, but incredibly nice.
Saw Natalie Portman at Shopsins yesterday having brunch. That hair is taking awful long to grow out.
I was walking on Park Ave and 66th street to Barney's for brunch on Sunday, that's when I saw such a cute boy with a camo hat and sunglasses. I took a double take only to realize that it was Toby Maguire. He had a girl on his arm and was very good looking.
(4/1/06) My bf and I were walking around Union Square on Saturday when a cute brunette walked right between us with her little white dog. The freckled nose caught my attention and then I realized it was Parker Posey. She was wearing skin tight wranglers with keys dangling out of the back pocket so anyone could take them, but I refrained. No one seemed to recognize the aviator wearing indie flick Queen except for well the queens. So my bf and I stalked her for a about a block. She must have realized she was being followed as she got away fast in metallic wedges.
This past Friday night, saw Julianna Margulies in front of the party side of La Esquina in SoHo. She was tall and hot and dressed in a creamy cocktail dress. She was with a non-famous female friend and, just as they were about to enter a rather early guest-list-only gathering, JM noticed this lady out front who was holding a little dog. As expected, she started gushing and approached the lady (really the dog) with pseudo-whimsical interest.
Saw Scarlett Johansson walking onto Columbia Campus off Broadway/116th. She was wearing faded, torn jeans, white top and hand in hand with a stocky bearded fellow with a "Sewerbaby" t-shirt...
My co-worker and I just saw Matt Dillon at the Starbucks on 23rd and Park Avenue South. He was with another woman who looked like either his agent or publicist. Matt looked like he's lost some weight. He's very handsome in person — we both gave him a 9 out of 10.
Saw Luis Guzman at brunch Sunday 4/3 at Yuca Bar on 7th/A. Wanted to camera phone it, but couldn't fit his entire head in the photo, seriously, it's ginormous. Had "Best of My Love" stuck in my head all afternoon ala his character in Boogie Nights.
Saw Cynthia Nixon walking south on Amsterdam ave. at 91st in the rain pushing her son in a stroller. No coat. No umbrella. Much hotter in person, but wouldn't even crack a smile. cute kid, too.
Anthony Michael Hall (aka Steroid Tony) looking all pumped and cheesed out at Coffee Shop. He was wearing a doo-rag (seriously). Also, Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke with the kids in front of Blue Water Grill in Union Square - warm weather reconciliation?
I saw Ashley Olsen at Caf Sorrento having lunch with a guy (I'm assuming it was her boyfriend, but I'm not positive) around 12:15 p.m. She had her hair down. She was wearing a brown long knit sweater with gem studded flip flop sandals and her famous black bugged eye glasses on top of her head. I couldn't tell what kind of a shirt she was wearing (but she was wearing a couple of wooden green big beaded necklaces - kind of like the ones from Mardi Gra, but bigger). She was wearing a long brown peasant skirt.
Elizabeth Hurley appears to have just stepped into a trailer that Hugh Grant was seen entering and existing earlier today (seen by a group of people I was with). It was raining at the time, and Elizabeth went in to get out of the rain.
I saw Elizabeth Berkley outside the bookstore Shakespeare & Co. (69th and Lexington) today around 4. She looked ridiculously skinny and was wearing a light pink sweater and 1969 Brand blue jeans from the Gap. She looked distraught, and was trying hard not to be recognized—I really don't think anyone knew who the hell she was.
Isabella Rossellini at the Time Warner Center in Columbus Circle. Bought several books and a few DVDs. Looked still radiant, with almost no makeup on, short hair and a trenchcoat. Stopped to chat with fans, was genteel and very forthcoming. A really delightful person.
Sat next to Aida Turturro (Janice Soprano) at Trio restaurant on 33rd street last night. She was with a look alike that must have been her sister or a close family member. My god can that woman eat. After a huge starter followed by a steak she ordered a huge piece of cheese cake.
14th and A: Just saw Vincent D'ONofrio, getting out of teaching a class at the Actors Studio, hailing a cab with a young hottie on his arm. Is she a student?
I just ate dinner at Balthazar and sat next to Howard Stern. We were sitting in the back corner and eavesdropping. He was sitting with some people from Sirius Radio. Very nice guy—treated the waitress very kind and had some kind of fish and 2 vodkas.
Saw Jeff Goldblum buying flowers at a stand just west of Carnegie Hall, intersection of 7th and 56th around 5:00 pm. Red jacket, looked like Members Only, but let's hope that it wasn't. Sporting Ray Ban shades that looked like something straight out of "The Fly". Bought yellow roses and a NY Post.
Saw Leo DiCaprio @ Nobu. Looked cozy in the corner with a pretty blonde I did not recognize.
I saw chef Bobby Flay and his "Law and Order" wife Stephanie March at the Food and Wine Magazine Party for the Best New Chefs 2006 on Tuesday. She was gorgeous as always and in a great Prada coat and he is taller and much better looking in person.
Catherine Keener and director Nicole Holofcener (Friends With Money, Walking and Talking) were seen tonight together at Tribeca Cinemas. Catherine looked lovely and was friendly, intelligent and sweet. They were great together, very charming and charismatic in the talk-back they lead after the screening.
I was walking up Madison with my sister when I saw Barbara Walters. She was with a younger (40's?) gentleman and another older woman. My sister told her she loves her interview, and Barbara was very appreciative. She looks pretty, happy, vivacious for her age and was wearing soft make-up...she really looks prettier than on TV. Lovely soft pin cashmere jacket with a big pin, and I think burgundy color long silky pants and boots. A fabulous Hermes scarf around her neck.
Yesterday afternoon I spotted Lou Reed at the target on Flatbush. He had a pack of paper towels and a can of caramel corn in his cart. He looks like a bug-eyed James Garner.
Right now (Tuesday night) Seann William Scott and Jeff Garlin outside The Comic Strip on 2nd Ave between 82nd and 81st, shooting a movie (Train Wreck). The lights are shining right in my bedroom, so I have no choice but to watch them through binoculars.
BD Wong, casual in sweats, strolling with his adorable son Jackson and a couple of other kids and parents. Much chatter about parent-type stuff that a non-parent like me couldn't quite decipher.
Spotted Denis Leary having lunch @ 12:05 pm in Cronin & Phelan's restaurant on Broadway (near Steinway Street) in Astoria. He ordered fish & chips and had one pint of Guinness. He was pretty discreet and was wearing a Boston Red Sox baseball cap.
So I'm sitting in a cab, stopped at a red light at the corner of 1st Ave. and 62nd St. I look to my left, and on the corner, in front of Baluchi's, is this group of guys (and a few women) who look utterly displaced on the UES, sort of like rejects from an '80s cover band or something. I notice that one of the women looks sort of familiar, when oh-ma ga, I realize it's Bo Derek! And that shabby looking dude with his arm around her? John Corbett. She looked pretty, sort of like any well-preserved Upper East Sider, and he...oh man. He looked like his character in Serendipity. Oh, Aidan—wherefore art thou? They looked happy, though, so what do I know.
Just saw Mia Farrow walking through the NYU Medical Center Endocrinology department and heading out the door. I am studying for an exam, I have no idea what she was here for. But the older nurse tripped all over each other behind her wondering if that was "Rosemary who had the devil baby".
Saw Drea DeMatteo at Pearl Oyster Bar with her family the day after Tony Soprano mentioned the restaurant and its famous lobster roll, post-coma. Prettier than you would expect, she never-the-less has a real Long Island thing going on.
Saw Candice Bergen and her beautiful daughter at the La Prairie counter in Sak's Fifth Avenue. Candice was friendly and signed an autograph. The girl (the late Louis Malle's daughter) is simply stunning. They seemed close and happy. Candice looks marvelous for 60, in a gorgeous pair of Prada boots. Go, Candy!
Julio Iglesias—Magnolia bakery. A little after 1, I saw Julio Iglesias leaving Magnolia bakery with two bags. Probably bought some cupcakes
Daisy Fuentes walking with a girlfriend on West 72 Street. Eating dogs from Gray Papaya's. She is pretty but her friend was a knockout!!
