Looking at the Look Book
In their latest installment of the Look Book, New York magazine takes its Brooklyn Style issue to the extreme by hitting Fulton Mall and interviewing Glenn Staley and Kyle Mingo, two "urban b-boy" party promoters. Staley likes his clothes by Pharrell, but Mingo prefers shirts with Muslim themes and "Afghanistan scarves" around his neck. The guys keep the stickers on their hats to show that they, uh, have a lot of hats, and they both think they'd fit in better around Soho. What, not fans of Maclaren-laden Brooklyn?
After the jump, Intern Alexis rounds up Carl Williamson, Damali Campbell, and Matt Dilmore for their fashionable analyses on these two gems.

What was Amy Larocca doing gallivanting around the Fulton Mall in downtown Brooklyn?
After a late night binge of cannoli and Cosby Show reruns, Larocca decided it was time to rally up the interns and find a herself some inspiration somewhere in The New Brooklyn. It seems it was fated that they would find the modern day Theo and his best friend Cockroach.
How does Mingo's shirt represent "a Muslim looking for a kind of salvation because his family is poor"?
Oh sweet Jesus. Do you remember that annoying girl on America's Next Top Model who said she was from a gated community in the Bronx? I have a hunch this is her brother.
What would Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger think of Staley and Mingo?
Blinded by the flash of the fronts, I think Heath and Michelle's first instinct would be to run.
How many hats does Staley own? And what's his favorite?
Staley owns really only one other hat; it reads, "Yahweh is my homeboy."

What was Amy Larocca doing gallivanting around the Fulton Mall in downtown Brooklyn?
Getting fitted for grills. They'll probably say something non-antagonizing and saccharine like "peace" or "get happy."
How does Mingo's shirt represent "a Muslim looking for a kind of salvation because his family is poor"?
Because punishing Americans by flooding our stores with dumb shit like that is cheaper than Jihad.
What would Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger think of Staley and Mingo?
They're thinking they've finally found promoters for the weekly dancehall and reggae parties they throw for the neighbor kids in the Boerum Hill projects.
How many hats does Staley own? And what's his favorite?
He's got 15. They're all Yankees hats, but the other 14 are in color combinations that compliment his sneakers. How can you pick a favorite among those?

What was Amy Larocca doing gallivanting around the Fulton Mall in downtown Brooklyn?
Amy was presumably there to judge a Fishbone look-a-like contest and ended up running into two Dr. Madd Vibe doppelgangers Staley and Mingo. The chance meeting is particularly ironic because Staley and Mingo are New York-based promoters, and as music fans everywhere know, Fishbone had a smash hit with "Party at Ground Zero."
How does Mingo's shirt represent "a Muslim looking for a kind of salvation because his family is poor"?
Well, quite frankly, just look at the graphic design of the shirt itself. C'mon, nothing represents the supposed plight of the Muslim like a bad Keith Herring-hieroglyph-slim fit. If he could've handled his joy flakes I'm sure Samo would be churnin' out this kinda product left and right.
What would Michelle Williams and Heath Ledger think of Staley and Mingo?
Here's the thing, and I mean this in the best possible way because Heath and Shelly are friends... Honestly, they could care less about Staley and Mingo. Why? They hate people of color.
How many hats does Staley own? And what's his favorite?
Staley can't even remember how many hats he has. Reagan had that prob, too, except with Stetsons, not New Eras. And Staley doesn't really have a favorite one. That'd be like someone to me, 'Hey Matt, who's your favorite adopted son?*' or 'What's your favorite position?'**
