At the end of Rush & Molloy's column today, a nugget of enlightenment on the manners of Jay McInerney:

Jay McInerney must believe in being tough on teens. When he heard that Taki Theodoracopulos was taking his private jet back to New York from a recent Palm Beach wedding they'd attended, the author and girlfriend Anne Hearst ran out on the tarmac with their bags, after the jets had already started, and begged on. Yes, he had to get to a Jaguar-sponsored dinner in his honor at Alain Ducasse' in honor of his prize for a piece on Ducasse. But 7 of the 8 seats were filled, so McInerney bumped a 14-year-old from his seat. The kid was forced to fly the two-and-a-half hours IN THE JOHN. Too bad the kid is the son of a very powerful man - who happens to have been the groom.

How classy. What makes this incident particularly unfortunate is that there's only one Palm Beach wedding as of late that would fit in the above equation, and that'd be the nuptials of Page Six editor Richard Johnson. And nobody puts baby in the shitter.
