Last night saw Nick Lachey with Vanessa Minnillo walking into her Building on 34th St. She was screaming at the security guard who said she was "disrespecting him" by walking in the wrong door. She in turn said he was disrespecting her and, that she was dealing with a specific "situation" pointing to Nick. He replied that he really didn't care about her situation. The elevator arrived and the pair went upstairs.
Only lived here three weeks, and who is my two-year old son playing with? Rocco, the son of Madonna. Central Park, today, about 4 - 5 pm. Guy was there too. Madonna was on the phone wanting to get a massage, then decided against it; there was a show at the theater on 34th she wanted to go to. So there you go. I can now go on living in NYC forever.
Friday, June 30, 5:30pm, Greene St b/t Prince and Houston. Kate Bosworth sitting on steps with assistant type. Emaciated. Platinum hair and makeup way overdone—she looked like a child prostitute. Bloom met her with a group of people shortly thereafter and they ducked into a furniture store when a family with teenagers excitedly recognized them. Bloom's hot.
I know you've had your Macbeth fix for the day, but I just had to attest to what a darling man that Liev Schreiber is. My sister is simply bonkers for the guy, she came all the way to New York from VA just to see his performance. Actually I kind of see her point now, he is a really great actor, it is a fantastic production. Anyway, after the show we lurked outside gate 1 like good little stalkers, and not only did he shake her hand and autograph her poster, he autographed my playbill while I fumbled with the settings on my camera phone and then, after asking me "is it going to work?" (how sweet of him to be concerned with my electronics issues), he posed for a picture with my sister. Was patient, gracious, and kind. Bonus point: he rides a bike—came out of the gate pushing it along as if that's what he had come to the park intending to do and had just wandered into the leading role in a Shakespeare play by accident. Not sure what Naomi's plan was, if she hops on the bike with him or what. She was there though and looked totally unspectacular with no makeup and frizzy hair. Still beautiful of course, but she was very much in the supportive role and he was the star. Anyway, he's just a tall sweaty lovely man. God bless.
07/04/06 6pm: Anne Hathaway and Vivek Sharma at the Pink Pony in the LES, having iced tea. Not many people noticed them, except me (of course). Later, a black Jaguar picked them up.
I saw Jared Leto yesterday at Spring Street Natural Restaurant in Soho on Spring and Lafayette. He was wearing all black, including a black hat, but unfortunately he was also wearing those horrible Croc shoes, or whatever the hell you call them, those new rubber clogs that everyone and their mother is wearing...his were in sliver...but, nonetheless he was looking pretty gorgeous, flying solo... My friend and I couldn't keep our mouths shut; the drool was just spilling out!
Jodie Foster is on the set filming The Brave One today at Parkside Ave and St. Paul Place in Brooklyn, NY. It is a hospital setting; they are using a wing that closed down several years ago. She is currently looking very bandaged up, I assume as part of the role!
Adrian Grenier (Vincent Chase) at Cafe Charbon on Stanton and Orchard a few hours before the fireworks began with an okay-looking white girl. They didn't have enough cash so they left their table and returned a few minutes later with several singles. He's shorter than I thought, but I'd take those lips any time!
Regal Cinema in Battery Park City, last Saturday night: supes Gisele Bundchen and Kiara Kabukuru seeing "The Devil Wears Prada." Love Gisele going to the ghetto theatre to see a movie—co-starring her!
Lenny Kravitz was in the front row at the Madonna concert July 2. At one point Madonna looked right at him and lifted up her shirt to flash him her boob wrapped in pink leotard.
Saw Lenny Kravitz, Chris Rock + wife in the audience for Madonna's concert (July 2)
Julianne Moore at Quiksilver in Soho. She was shopping with her daughter, dog and husband. So cute!
Corner of Chambers and Centre St, today around 4:30. Saw Scarlett Johansson riding in the back of a black escalade with the window down. She was wearing aviators, smoking, and looking contemplative.
Spotted Ashley Olsen, sporting a huge Louis Vuitton purse, and brown sweater over white tank, holding hands with her boyfriend, and with her assistant looking for seats (for a really long time) in the Regal Union Sq. Theater (auditorium 8) for the 9:50pm showing of Devil Wears Prada tonight.
June 30th around 1pm, I saw Susan Sarandon dining al fresco at Sant Ambroeus on W 4th St and Perry. She was with an unknown male and female looking fabulous.
Saw Ellen Pompeo waiting alone on the platform for the uptown R at 8th and Broadway...we made eye contact and I realized after leaving the station that I just should have said hi ...see seemed approachable.
Keri Russell in front of the Cornelia Street Cafe on her cell phone at around 8:00pm today. For someone famous, she was dressed like something out of Gap circa 1997.
Saw Alan Cumming and his boyfriend at the Madonna concert. They were holding hands and looked quite happy. He had on a hat and a white tank top. Looked even skinnier in person.
I was at Coney Island watching the Cyclones, my seat was in the second row right behind home plate. So I sit down and look to my left and whom do I see? Good Ole Larry King with his wife and kids, His wife looks young enough to be his daughter! Talk about a hottie. Way to go Larry!
On July 2nd I saw John Legend in the Rite Aid on 1st Ave and 5th St. I was in a hangover haze so I'm not sure I would have recognized him if not for the fact that the cashier started freaking out and yelling about how hot he was. The manager confirmed that it was in fact him and that he comes in fairly regularly to pick up prescriptions. He was wearing designer shades in the store and had a hot, tall ladyfriend in tow.
Friday, June 30, 2006—Madison Ave b/w 68th & 69th: Martha Stewart climbs out of a large black SUV. She's wearing a linen jacket a cross between acid green & light spring green. She has sandals with the exact same matching acidy green color. She's wearing white slacks almost a cargo pant in cut, generous. She has a white blouse under her jacket. Her hair is a nice blonde shade and its voluminously coiffed, that kind of feathered nest look she's had for a few years. She didn't have much makeup on to note at a distance. Her face was kind of in a grimace; she looked sort of fatigued and bitter. She radiated a kind of meanness and also tiredness. She crossed over to my side of Madison, the east side, and I watched her walk south on Madison and I lost sight of her about one block south.
I am going to bring a pen with from now on. An hour before I was to see the 4:15 pm showing of Superman Returns at the AMC Theaters on 67th and Broadway yesterday, 7/4/06, I saw James Marsden (maroon tee and brown jogging pants) finishing a bottle of water before his run, in Central Park right across Sheep's Meadow. I had the movie ticket in my pocket and was actually going to ask him to sign it but raaaats, I didn't have a pen with me. He has longish hair hidden underneath his baseball cap; he is taller than I thought he would be (Kate Bosworth must've walked on 9 inch heels in the film) and sooo much better looking in the flesh. And after watching the movie, he can act too!!
Around 4ish, I saw Mos Def sitting on the bench outside the SoHo Grand hotel. Was looking at some very neat luggage with a couple of other hommies. Looked at me and my kids, smiled, and was pretty oblivious at the others around him starting to gawk. Looked clean and cool dressed in white, was wearing shades.
Just saw Eric McCormack strolling with his baby on the corner of Hudson and Christopher Street. Noticed him because he was wearing Tevas or some other sport-like sandal in public.
We saw Antonio Banderas at the new Apple Store at Fifth Avenue on Thursday June 29th around 11.30am. He was shopping with his whole family. He had no problems with posing for a picture with a few people who asked for that. He looks smaller and smarter in real life
DJ AM and 2 drowsy-looking friends going through the American Airlines first class baggage screening at JFK Airport. At least half a dozen lighters were confiscated amongst the 3 of them!
Saw Bebe Neuwirth Saturday, July 2nd (4 pm) at the Broadway Dance Center. She took a Ballet class, looked gorgeous, and could not have been any nicer to the staff. Oh yeah, and she looked amazing. How old is she?
Saw Emily Mortimer and Alessandro Nivola (Junebug) walking up Dean Street (at Smith Street) in Cobble Hill. EM looked lovely in a ponytail and black dress, but seemed peeved that AN was waylaid by a very lovely hostess in the outdoor seating area of Bar Tabac.
July 2—I saw Wyclef Jean, in the West Village. It was about 8 p.m. He was standing outside a building watching someone clean his white 1947 Lincoln Convertible. He was very nice, and was sporting a white fedora.
Saw Mike Myers and a very nondescript woman today, around 12PM, leaving Barney Co-op in Soho. He was very short and they had no bags in their hands
Monday July 3rd @ 34th and 7th: Fran Drescher at Madonna's show. Front row seats in front of runway. Fran looked great, but to be in front of a diva, she was a bit too reserved for the energy of the place.
I saw Maura Tierney at 6:30pm on July 2. She was walking down w. 10th St. toward Hudson St. and talking on her cell phone about dinner plans. She was dressed in jeans and a cute brown top. She is very petite and much prettier in person. I saw her again after her play at the Bleecker Grocery on the corner of Christopher St. She was with a few friends and one of them was getting an umbrella. She had a cute white top on this time.
Dan Abrams jogging down Christopher Street down to the river about 2PM. He was very small and very pale and wore a hat but cute.
Saturday I ran into Dominque Swain drunkety, drunk, drunk in Tribeca at only 10:30 or so. While she was gracious in meeting people, she was also screaming like a freshman—sad, because the dame has potential. For all her drunken starlet stumbling, it must be said that she looked fantastic in a silvery satin cocktail number. She may not know how to drink, but she does know how to dress. Great gams—moderation, sweetheart.
The Daily Show's Rob Corddry in line behind me at the Starbucks kiosk at Mount Sinai Medical this morning. I think he just had a kid a few days ago. Looked tired.
I saw Jonathan Safran Foer this past Monday on Shelter Island at a convenience store. He was with a friend (brother maybe?) and getting water. He was wearing those ugly Crocs shoes/sandals.
I saw Patricia Fields on the corner of Bond and Bowery Streets on Tuesday evening (7:45 PM). Her ruby red hair was blowing in the breeze. Her yellow and black tie dyed leggings looked fabulous on her skinny legs. And to top off her fabulous outfit, she was puffing on a cigarette.
I was walking to the subway on 61st between 1st and 2nd on the 5th when John Cleese walked past me briskly heading east in a T-shirt and jogging pants. Hard to miss with that distinctive height and the crisp white mustache, but the two other people on the block with us didn't bat an eye. Maybe they weren't Fawlty Towers fans.
Spotted Dick Parsons in the Equinox gym at Time Warner Center this morning at 7:30 AM. He was with a middle-aged, slightly pudgy personal trainer/yes man. Dick was wearing black shorts and a gray t-shirt. He spent a little time on the weight machines and called it a workout, heading out the door by 8 AM.
Saw Nick Denton at the Regal Cinema on Union Square with his manjunk around 7ish on Monday, July 3rd. He's much prettier in person.
Saw Dustin Diamond, aka "Screech" from Saved by the Bell with his girlfriend at my dentist's office on 66th Street/West End. He had a cameraman filming him and his girlfriend during his appointment, and must have been getting some cosmetic work done. Apparently he paid his back taxes on his home in Wisconsin b/c this place expects full payment at time of service!
Bam Margera on the roof of the Soho House hanging out with a bunch of dorky suits.
Kaavya Vishwanathan spotted on the A train going into Brooklyn. When the conductor announced that the train would have limited stops she checked a pocket-sized subway map. I tried to snap her picture with my cellphone, but the lighting was bad and by the time I turned on the flash she had moved seats. Anyway, I had reached my stop and went to go see the Devil Wears Prada. Which lead to epiphany—maybe we wouldn't be so hard on Kaavya if she dressed a little better.
