Make millions! Scam YouTube!
So that's why young Chad Hurley is smiling like he's just plunked a roofie in everyone's drink. His company YouTube recently changed its terms of service so that YouTube is allowed to use every video uploaded to it. But blogs like Boing Boing have it all wrong, criticizing this move.
The Terms of Service also say that YouTube's licensing right ends when you take your video off the site. So here's the game plan.
- Make awesome and popular videos.
- Upload them to YouTube.
- Let YouTube exploit one of these videos by selling it on DVD or cutting a deal with Comedy Central or something.
- Pull down your video just before it goes live on an Adult Swim interstitial.
- Demand crazy money for licensing fees after your clip airs.
Frankly, I think it's foolproof.
