Finally, Some Legal Closure To The Vaughn "Mystery Makeout In London" Story
Not only are The Break-Up sweethearts (now available on DVD!) Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn not, as previously reported, broken up, they are so committed to their not-at-all-suspicious partnership that they've supplemented a recent Oprah appearance reaffirming their undying mutual devotion by having their lawyers personally deliver cease-and-desist papers to media outlets who might have hinted that Vaughn's commitment to their relationship (have we mentioned the movie is available in the exciting new HD DVD format?) is less that total. Retracts Page Six:
For The Record
JENNIFER Aniston went on "Oprah" to tell the world she and Vince Vaughn are still together. We apologize to Vaughn for reporting on Oct. 11 that the "The Wedding Crashers" star had been photographed "making out" with a "mystery blonde" at a party in London. The item, first reported in the London Sun, was incorrect. We're advised Vaughn was merely greeting a friend at the event and not kissing her "passionately." Any suggestion that the actor was being unfaithful to Aniston is totally false.
Strangely, there is no mention in the retraction of The Sun's claim that during Vaughn's harmless greeting of the mystery woman, he was "wearing a stained sweatshirt and the fly of his jeans were undone," either indicating that Page Six initially demurred from relating this detail of the report (we can't seem to find the original item in that day's column), or that Vaughn's lawyers conceded that the unbuttoning of the actor's fly is his preferred greeting for platonic friends of the opposite sex.
