Two minutes disdain: A parade of scoundrels
You can disdain the following jerks, sellouts, and creeps who made the world worse this weekend — but don't let anyone know you're really just jealous.
- Outspoken AOL exec Jason Calacanis, famous for being kind of a dick even when he's right (see earlier), whined that Wikipedia isn't running advertising on its site and donating $100 million in proceeds to charity. In other news, Jason has never done the same thing with his site, Netscape.com. Whoops! [Jason Calacanis]
- Former Rocketboom host Amanda Congdon (pictured) told BusinessWeek that she's parlayed her role at the video blog (where she decried the outdated ways of Old Media) into a job with...wait for it...one of the three major TV networks. Three cheers for selling out! [BusinessWeek; photo by Lan Bui]
- Business research site Hoovers will dabble in social networking. Users can get introduced, through their registered contacts, to people at other companies — but they can't know which contact will make the introduction until it happens. Just imagine the awkward possibilities of knowing that someone — someone — in your social circle is buddies with Jason Calacanis. [NY Times]
- And YouTube killed Jon Stewart. [NY Times]
