For a second straight day, we find ourselves bookended by stories of Lindsay Lohan's alcohol-related travails in the morning, and her publicist's fiercely protective, retainer-enabled statements in the afternoon. People reports that Leslie Sloane Zelnick, the well-remunerated protector of Hollywood's most prolific underage drinker's reputation, has confirmed the surprise that Page Six had already ruined for the actress's adoring public: that Lohan has been trying out some AA meetings for size. Zelnick once again urges the media, which has taken a baffling interest in her reclusive client's quiet personal life and infrequent public appearances, to back off:

"Yes, she's been attending some meetings, and it's going to be a slow process," says her publicist, Leslie Sloane. "This is a positive. Let's hope that the press doesn't turn it into a negative."

Sloane says she's asking the media not to intrude on the meetings or follow Lohan, 20, to and from the gatherings.

"Maybe if (the press) backs off on her she'll be in a good space," Sloane added. "Let's see if we don't have to hear about it every day, and they're following her and trying to find her. Because that will just really not be good."

You've been warned, "the press": If Lohan ever decides to take the step of the program that requires that one actually stop drinking, her sobriety is in your hands. You have no one to blame but yourselves if she falls off the wagon and into the "bad space" out of frustration about your insistence in writing about how much less interesting she's become since she switched to bottled water at the five to ten open-bar events she attends per week.
