Great Moments in Journalism are submitted by readers, and can be sent to this address. Okay, kids, end of the week, poll up later, etc. Today's Moment barely qualifies as journalism, as it comes from the pen of Liz Smith, but what the heck, it's almost Christmas.

IN O. Henry's "The Gift of the Magi," the couple make sacrifices. He pawns his watch to buy her a hair ornament; she cuts her hair to buy a watch fob. Some say that in this story, the gift-giving is a disaster, but I think her hair would grow back and they'd find money to unhock his watch.

We're going to be saying this a lot today, because, much like Liz, we are so running out the clock, but, uh, Happy Holidays.
