Hollywood PrivacyWatch: Christmas Eve Memories With Keanu Reeves At Amoeba Records
PrivacyWatch celebrity sightings are submitted by our readers—the best sighting submitters in the world! We fell far short of the 50 we challenged on Tuesday, so, unfortunately, there will be no cake. Still, we'd be remiss if we did not sweep up the last scraps of celebrity spottings for 2006—no matter how Z-list—in order to start with a clean slate in 2007. Submit yours to tips[AT]defamer.com (please put "sighting" or "PrivacyWatch" in the subject line) and let everyone know about the time you saw Pauly Shore sulking near corned beef.
In today's low-wattage episode: Keanu Reeves; Tommy Lee; Candy Spelling; Nicky Hilton; Jose Heber; Paula Abdul; Frankie Muniz; Bobcat Goldthwaith; Pauly Shore; "Weird Al" Yankovic and Zachary Quinto.
· Christmas Eve, 3 pm, in Amoeba Records: I saw Keanu Reeves at the customer service counter. Dude is TALL. And jittery. Maybe he needs to lay off the coffee or something.
· Doing the pre-holiday madness, running into: Diminutive, under made-up Candy Spelling in Kitson (doesn't really count as a sighting, eh? Photogs waiting outfront to pounce, so I got to say upon exit, all THIS for Candy??) flinging piles of clothes behind the register kiosk as an exasperated and blonde staff scribbled things on paper. Candy was flying out Friday and "needed to wrap this up", meaning either the mountains of billion dollar t-shirts and Fiorucci-esque fashion ephemera or the entire, inexplicable burned tv dinner of a life. Your guess...next up Prada where a fat and jolly man was in the changing room (ew...I peeked, but the door was wide open) and it was not Elton, it was Hair Extension Emperor Jose Eber, with the requisite cowboy hat with the attached hair. Nothing fit, thank G-D...what a dull boutique, BTW...then 2 Rodeo for Nicky Hilton bumrushing Tiffany in almost no makeup (my adorable niece Alexis spotted her) and sporting a tiny scar, which I missed...hmmm...next up Tommy Lee with requisite (I love that word) blond in tow, with his own paparazzo walking backwards for two city blocks. Asian tourists ignored them, making the sighting even more glorious. I spent way too much money, but Taschen books on Beverly is my new second home.
· This was from before Christmas, been busy. Saw Paula Abdul looking lovely, great skin, and low key at Pip-Squeaks in West Hollywood. She bought a number of newborn clothes and a Petunia Pickle Bottom Diaper bag. She was the size of a toothpick, seriously her whole body was the size of my leg(and I'm a 4), so I don't think she was shopping for herself. Got a peek in her bag when she opened it, all I could see was a copy of the book Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. Was tempted to invite her to my own baby shower if that was an example of kind of gifts she gives.
· December 26th: At P.F. Chang's at the Beverly Center saw Frankie Muniz and two buddies eating at a back booth. He looked really young and seemed like a nice guy in his exchange with a waiter as he was leaving. My brother told me at the same meal that he had just gotten off a flight with Bobcat Goldthwaith sitting in his same row (in coach from Atlanta). The movie on the plane (no joke)? Scrooged! My brother said Bobcat kind of smirked when they announced the movie.
· christmas afternoon, went to Canter's to pick up bagels, cream cheese + lox for our Xmas brunch. it was packed! as i waited in the credit card line to pay, realized that Pauly Shore was in front of me. Really wanted to ask about that recent 'incident' in Texas, but said nothing. when i walked back over to the deli counter to pick up my items, he was doing the same. briefly reconsidered mentioning Texas, but he seemed to be in a bad mood. decided to let it go. Later determined that bad mood was due to no one recognizing him.
· "Weird Al" Yankovic at Tito's Tacos Tuesday 12/26 chowing down with the regular folk.
· Saw Zachary Quinto (Sylar on Heroes) at the 3 p.m. showing of Dreamgirls at the ArcLight on Sat 12/23. He was with a couple of other guys, and was wearing a conductor cap.
