Crotchety Steve Cuozzo of the Post stops by Graydon Carter's Waverly Inn and is mightily unimpressed: "Welcome to the most annoying new place to eat in a long time." Cuozzo knocks the food, the service, the secrecy, the crowd, and the lack of decent beer choices. The contrarians at Time Out take the opposite tack, giving the mac-shack five out of six stars and calling it "the best surprise of the season." (Look for critic Randall Lane's byline in Vanity Fair sometime soon.) The Observer, meanwhile, reports some recent unpleasantness:

[O]ne social gal was disappointed with her recent visit. "The mice were running up the walls," she I.M.'d The Transom on Jan. 9... She also said she and her dining companion both were as ill as could be later—though that could have been anything. Still! "The mouse almost fell into my tablemate's hair!" the lass claimed.

Fortunately, the sickened patron was merely confusing the rodent for the equally tiny Mary-Kate Olsen, who "dined" there the same night.
