We don't know about you, but when we first heard about New York City's trans fat ban, we were all "meh, whatever." We were amused that it flummoxed some prissy-sounding restaurateurs, and we worried momentarily that our morning pastries would be slightly less greasily satisfying. But other than that, we weren't fazed by the plan, though some found it Orwellian.

Then we discovered that the ban would target a snack food close to the hearts and even closer to the tummies of all vegans, former vegans, lactose intolerant people, kosher-keepers, and people who think ice cream is just sort of overkill: Tofutti Cuties. Supervegan reports that, even though these delicious little ice-cream sandwiches don't brag about their trans fat content on their label, they — along with many other Tofutti products — are chock full of the stuff. GOD DAMN IT! We're going to get up off the couch and organize a rally against the trans fat ban RIGHT NOW, just as soon as we finish this last box of mint chocolate chip ones. Mmmm, tofulicious.

Update: We were totally wrong, and also Gothamisty.
