In her one of her recent online chats, Washington Post advice columnist Carolyn Hax was forced to contend with the following question:

Washinton [sic], D.C.: Last night at a St. Patrick's Day party I saw my girlfreind [sic] for the first time drunk — very drunk. She was quite flirty with other guys and I found out later that she had a sexual relationship in the past with two of the guys at the party. Obviously, I broke up with her. It had been four months since we were dating exclusively. she seemed so innocent and sweet when we met. How can I tell if a girl is dirty, when she puts up a good front — preppy, conservative attire, intelligent, and not a party girl at all?

Carolyn seemed skeptical that the question was for real, but assuming it was, just how do you tell if your girlfriend has committed the mortal sin of dating other people?
