Chole Hilliard's Village Voice cover story features a description of a party where AGs ("agressives," or butch, "masculine" lesbians) fight thuggishly for control of "femmes."

When two AGs get into a pushing match over a femme, one shouts, "Suck my dick, nigga! I'll fuck your whole shit up!" Friends break it up, pulling one outside the club to get the story. One of the women had tried to talk to the other's girlfriend while her back was turned. But it's a common occurrence. No femme, committed or not, is really off-limits

One of the profile's subjects, the Lab party's promoter Madison, has taken issue with Hilliard's portrayal, posting a scathing rebuttal on girlzparty.com.

Situations and words were fully taken out of context in your article. Many of your readers will walk away thinking that the young black gay youth only have rap to teach them life lessons. Sooo not true. I personally know that many of the women in your front page article are successful and intelligent women ... I felt that they shared very intimate and personal stories with you in the hopes to show that they , like others, can overcome obstacles. Well, your article almost portrayed them as ignorant outcasts of the system. They are not.

Oh, Madison, come on: it could be so much worse! Just be glad that the writeup wasn't in the Post.
