When Peggy Orenstein worried in the Times magazine recently that the huge scary monolith that is Disney Princess culture might be "the first salvo in what will become a lifelong struggle over [her daughter's] body image, a Hundred Years' War of dieting, plucking, painting and perpetual dissatisfaction with the results," we understood her concerns, but were marginally reassured that the studies she cited elsewhere in that article seem to indicate that girls grow out of this shit and are mostly unharmed by it.
