As a send-off to the old 43rd Street building, the Times will release a 64-page tabloid memorial yearbook mag called "229" on Monday. Umm. WE WANT ONE! BAD. Want two! And we want Alessandra Stanley to sign it "2 GOOD 2 B 4 GOTTEN." Then we want to sleep with it under our pillows. We hope we don't confuse it with "227," our memorial tribute booklet to our favorite TV show however.

For many of us, 229 West 43rd Street has been our home for most of our professional lives. Because we care deeply about history, we wanted to create a keepsake that celebrated this building and the men and women who have worked here over the last 94 years.

On Monday morning, you'll find copies of "229" in the lobby. (It will be
shipped or mailed to those of you who don't work on 43rd Street.) This is
a 64-page tabloid magazine, prepared and printed here at The Times, that
highlights the history of the building, floor by floor and year by year,
with 350 archival and contemporary photos, drawings and graphics.

We owe a great debt to many people for this wonderful tribute, but none
more than David Dunlap, our historian par excellence.

We hope it will surprise you, delight you and help you recall 229 West 43rd
Street — yes, even the lousy elevators — long after we leave.
