The sex in socialite "author" Holly Peterson's new book The Manny isn't the only famously flaccid thing about her career. In September of 2001 (yes, that September 2001), she wrote an article for Tina Brown's Talk magazine (just before it shuttered!) about the horror of shelling out $6,000 for a soft-sided Birkin bag, which is so much less coveted than the hard-sided variety. "I might as well have bought Birkenstocks," she mourned. A former employee of the magazine tells us that Holly was paid around $15,000 for the one-page piece, which can be read here. Is Holly Peterson the most overpaid, undertalented woman in the history of the written word?
