This weekend's New York Times magazine features a fashion shoot of Wesleyan students! It is amazing. A correspondent confesses: "I'm an alumna of what you call the most annoying liberal arts school in America, and I have to completely agree with you that Wesleyan is beyond ridiculous. I saw this and kind of totally like, shed a tear.
I may have said it clumsily before during the "Most Annoying" runoff election - with crude oversimplifications of the prototypical WesTechie - but I stand by my position that Wesleyan has a disproportionate amount of style & hotness per capita. The heavy NYC influence has something to do with it, but it's bigger than that. Because it's a small New England college it gets slept on for the fuckability of its student body, but I was certainly acutely aware of it. And even if I hadn't recognized it, my visiting friends from reputable party schools (Penn, UVA, NYU, ZooMAss) raved about Wesleyan ass so profusely it was hard not to see it.
Sorry if that's too annooyingly earnest, I just loved my time there!
Hm.. bad play by the times. It would have made for a better spread to have picked students who stylized themselves. There's nothing about what these kids are wearing that has much to do with Wesleyan. If anything, this is a campus where pretentious $4000 scarves heed to the call of $10 vintage sunglasses.

the reason why Wesleyan won: the preponderance of the rich, preppy,
fraternities and sororities, etc.

If so, in true Wesleyan spirit, I'll go dutch if we adjust the split based on the income inequality between men and women. Since I earn 75 cents for your every dollar, and the average package of Ho-Hos costs 99 cents, I'll pay 43 cents and you can 57 cents. (The store can keep the penny if they donate to the cause celebre of the week).
